Going with 5 because there is nothing major to change at this diner. Service, food, and accommodations were all top notch. There's no way around it, it's as many seats possible in a small space. Practically communal dining.
There's a free parking lot across the street that is shared by the firefighters. Please abide with the designated spaces(see pic). Front door has a wind break(see pic) to keep the climate away from your hot food. Simple, needed, yet seen as cost prohibitive by most restaurants. Big point for keeping my food hot, as you expect it to be served. Bench seats up front for those waiting to be seated. A small bar bordered by some stools acts as a diner counter. Yes there's limited alcohol options per signature drinks. Sturdy tables and chairs. Well lit from above, and the large front window. Unisex bathrooms in the back. Coat hooks adorn the walls. Service is friendly and menu knowledgeable with all kinds of suggestions and pairings. Thanks for always checking back on our food and drink refills. Our 6 top of diners with critical eyes noticed it all, and enjoyed it all.
The Breakfast Shot I found out about here in reviews. It was a generous portion for the price(see pic). It tasted like buttered french toast & syrup.
~CBH Homemade corned beef hash is actually homemade(see pic). No can here. The beef is hand cut into finger digit size cubes, and tossed with the HOE potatoes. I added peppers and onions(cook soft) to add more flavors. I feel that's an easy recipe change for the better. Great seasoning. No over salty flavor to try to break down any fast-cooked meat. This was cooked low and slow, perfectly. I went with the Rye bread as recommended, and found it complimentary to the dish. My eggs were cooked perfect with runny yolk. The queso sauce was lost beneath my broken yolk, so I have no true taste of it. I thought my meal looked small when it arrived, but left me full and content. Thank you for that portion control.
If we can get going early enough that I don't max out on coffee at home, I am interested in trying theirs. For that matter, I saw many items on the menu that beckon my immediate return. I was pleased to find out they give a Military discount with proper...
Read moreI'd like to start off with saying I eat here every other weekend, I order the same thing (chicken & waffles) and I return because it was a good product. However this past Saturday and $25 later I had a bad experience and no ownership was issued by the kitchen manager that pushed the food out. , the food came out pretty quick even though I expressed that I'd like everything fresh.
What I received were chicken tenders that had been cut in half as smaller portions and pre cooked as if the chicken had been sitting. I did politely ask to speak with the manager, explained what I received was not up to the standard of what I always order. I was told "the portion, quality I received is what we serve and was reluctant to make it right. Didn't offer to remake and stood his ground. My point I paid, I sent back on a plate half eaten food yet paid full price. I never wanted anything given to me but the quality of food that I was use too. Some managers forget you are the front for the business there to make it do well. Your customers account for dollars, which include your salary. Customer service is a pillar of any business, unfortunately something only an owner can understand. I promise this would not had been the owners approach. The quality of food on Parsons is not the same. BTW we all have options and w/competitors, and I drove all the way from Bexley to downtown, The New Katalinas may had been a better choice. I came with guest because I bragged about Hang Over EASY, I wish I could post pictures because that would tell it all. THANK GOD FOR REVIEWS. I will be that one that doesn't have to...
Read moreFrog Eyes delivered via Ubereats to near East side, quick direct delivery. Food hot. Good bit to eat, totally full with half a biscuit left. May have finished it off if I had another two spoons full of gravy. Decent gravy, certainly better than Bob Evans, not quite Dough Mama level but it's good as an excellent baseline sausage gravy, not too black peppery, no red or green peppers, it's sausage and gravy. Good biscuits, large, just a tad dry which is why touch more gravy would have been good (I like a slightly drier biscuit with gravy so the recipe is perfect). Eggs were scrambled into one big patty on top, covered both biscuits, so they weren't a creamy style which I'm fine with, tasty. I've had this twice and it's been good both times, easy under $20 tipped and delivered meal for one, add in some fruit and you could split it for two for a lighter breakfast.
Last two times I ate in:
Pretty loud inside, nice place though. Good service. 1st eat in got the dish with chicken, biscuit w/ chorizo gravy and an egg. All good but I prefer the regular gravy. Chicken was a tad too salty but still good. Quick service.
2nd eat in. this morning, got my usual Frog Eyes, bit smaller than what I ordered through Uber many months ago but quite filling, not enough for two thanks to inflation but still priced decently. Really quick service despite being busy and seated immediately,...
