This place is always busy. The location is a little away from the mall but that is good because you can park right in front. The owner/manager is very nice and friendly; she has a good memory for customers and what they like. The quality of the ice cream is always excellent and we love the variety of flavors available. We spend too much because the staff are friendly and helpful which makes it easy to order more.
Today (04/15/2019) I am editing my review due to recent events . . .
I would now give this store and the new owner ZERO STARS.
This store is now under new ownership and they have a new policy that everyone needs to be aware of. The new policy is “The Customer is NEVER right.” Everyone who knows me knows that we used to frequent this place all seasons of the year and we likely spent between $350 and $500 per year at this specific location under the previous owner. The new owner took possession of the store in late 2018 and this is his way to promote his business; assume that every customer is a liar. This is my way of letting this new owner and Cold Stone Creamery corporate know that I do not want my money back, I do not want my purchase replaced; I will never shop at this or any other Cold Stone Creamery location and I will let anyone and everyone I know or meet know the poor customer service that was offered at this location. On Friday April 12, 2019 I ordered a large take home container with two ice creams mixed and asked for almonds as the mix-in. At the time the young man was preparing my order something did not look correct so I asked if he was sure that was actually almonds. He assured me that they were and I did not think any more about it. Later that night at home I scooped some of the ice cream for my wife and after her first bite she complained that this did not have almonds in it and maybe it was pecans because it was definitely bitter. I told her not to eat anymore and that I would take it back to the store for replacement. On Monday April 15, 2019 I called the telephone number on my receipt and asked for the manager. The person on the telephone said that he was and asked how he could help me. I explained the situation and he told me that I could just bring in the receipt and he would make things right. About 20 minutes later I arrived at the store with receipt and asked to speak to the manager. An older man was called from the back and immediately took a defensive attitude. He informed me that his son was the one who took care of me on Friday and he remembered me after the telephone call. He said that his son told him that he made my order correctly and that he believed his son and not me. I was obviously taken aback by this and asked if now he wanted me to go home and retrieve the ice cream which would mean multiple trips back and forth and he indicated that I would have to if I wanted any satisfaction. I commented about him paying my gasoline for the multiple trips and then I retracted my request. Upon returning home I retrieved the container of ice cream and then delivered it back to the store placing it on the counter in front of the son and asked him to give it to his father. I will no longer be purchasing ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. I will no longer be purchasing ice cream cakes at Cold Stone Creamery. This summer my family and I will start travelling past Cold Stone Creamery to purchase ice cream at Graeter’s. This summer and fall my family will travel past Cold Stone Creamery to purchase cakes at The...
Read moreI'm writing this review with a heavy heart after an exceptionally disheartening experience at Coldstone Creamery.
My simple intention of indulging in my favorite Founder's Favorite in Love It size for myself and a Kids Cone of the same flavor for my child quickly spiraled into an uncomfortable encounter. The normally delightful process of placing my order was marred by the condescending attitude of the staff member, Abby, who also happens to be one of the managers.
Upon ordering two items, Abby retorted with, "I only have two hands." This remark, coming from a managerial level staff, was jarring and uncalled for. Even if meant in jest, the tone and timing were inappropriate, leaving me feeling unwelcome and belittled. There's a fine line between humor and rudeness - this was clearly the latter.
When I raised my concern to Abby about her demeaning behavior, instead of owning up to her behavior or offering a genuine apology, she evaded accountability by saying that it was all a joke, and that I'd taken it too seriously. It was not a moment for humor, it was a moment for professionalism. Her defensive behavior only magnified the initial negative experience.
Attempting to escalate this issue, I asked for another manager, Marko, hoping for a resolution. Unfortunately, Abby's behavior seemed to be condoned by the other young staff present, possibly due to their camaraderie or lack of understanding of appropriate customer service. Their support of her disrespectful behavior left me feeling unheard and further dismayed.
An organization's culture is determined by its leadership and this episode made it clear that this particular branch of Coldstone Creamery has a long way to go when it comes to fostering a welcoming, respectful, and customer-centric environment.
I hope that my experience serves as constructive feedback for the team at Coldstone Creamery to better train their staff, particularly those in leadership roles, on how to engage respectfully and professionally with customers. I urge potential visitors to consider my experience before deciding to patronize this establishment.
Overall, I'm saddened and disappointed by this experience and feel it necessary to highlight such glaring lapses in basic courtesy and professionalism, in hopes that no other customer has to...
