Short review: This place is not good or authentic. Over $4 a taco and a lot of the food is disappointing.
Review: I’ve tried this place twice and got the burrito, rice and beans, chips / salsa and 3 street tacos (chorizo and steak).
I should have know when they make you by three tacos, it was for a reason. The tacos were very dry and disappointing. The steak was good but too big of chunks not good asada at all. The chorizo was the same issue. Cooked chorizo doesn’t look like that. It tasted like marinated pork instead of small spicy pork pieces like normal.
The tortilla was so undercooked it was hard to tell if they were flour or corn (Maiz) they are store bought and the driest ones I’ve ever had. I bet it’s la banderita brand (not good).
The spicy salsa that came with the tacos was very spicy but had no flavor. The spice was no issue, but having no flavor was upsetting.
The rice was very good and made well just like my grandma made all the time. The beans were normal restaurant quality. No complaints
The burrito had the same issues the tacos had but was a little better since the flour tortilla was cooked well and the meat inside was the same size as the tacos (good size meat for burrito, not for tacos). The steak did have a good flavor and can’t complain too much about it.
The chips and sals were also pretty bad, I will give the chips the Benefit since I had it delivered, but they still did come pretty stale and soft.
The salsa was the absolute most disappointing thing. It’s not good proper salsa. It taste like they took the Clamato juice for the seafood cocktails. Clamato taste good with saltine crackers, not chips. It’s disappointing knowing how easy it is to roast some tomatoes, onions and peppers and blend them for a...
Read moreso deeply disappointed. i ordered this with great excitement and high hopes. i mean, it’s a local black owned Mexican restaurant. what else could i possibly ask for? the seasoning on the food i received tonight was, i’m not even joking, nonexistent. the only saving grace was the salt and pepper packets that came in the utensil wrapper. is it possible to un-salt cheese? apparently yes. bland rice, bland refried beans, bland burrito, bland salsa, bland cheese. i cannot express to y’all how little flavor there was throughout the entire meal. i will give Dos Hermanos one (slightly backhanded) win, though. they did not give me the tortilla chips that should have come with my order, BUT the gentleman i spoke with was kind enough to take down my name and promised a free bag next time i come in.
a couple things that i am thankful for: having spoke with the kind employee before i tasted a single bite of food. not receiving the chips. i’m beginning to think it was a blessing in disguise. i think, if presented with unsalted tortilla chips, my soul would leave my body...
Read moreI rarely write food reviews, especially when I order from doordash and can just quickly give out stars for the food and for the driver. But today’s experience was so confusing that I needed to share. For context: we ordered veggie tacos and a steak burrito bowl. First, this place uses cilantro like it’s ordered by dump truck loads and the next shipment is just around the corner. If you are one of those people who LOVE cilantro, then this place is just for you. If you are an unfortunate soul like me with weird DNA that makes cilantro taste like dirty dish soap (jealous of you “others” btw), maybe this place isn’t ideal - because even the salsa is going to taste like a cilantro purée. Also, the veggie tacos were just rice and onions (plus - of course - about a heaping handful of cilantro). In any case, a weird combination. In fairness, it all seemed to be pretty fresh and the chips...
