Gaswerks — Restaurant in Columbus

09/28/13 Me and a fairly large group of young adults wanted to go there for our friends birthday. When we go to the door the bouncer guy would not let one of our friends in because his shorts were too short. So we walked away understanding it's their rules. As we walked away another guy came up to him with shorts of the same length and he was allowed in. The only difference was that guy and his friends were white, we were African American. None of use had baggy cloths or anything "thug/hoochie attire". When we asked he claimed that he did not see the guy. So a buddy of ours went inside took a picture of the guys shorts and showed it to them. He said he must have changed clothes when he go it. Another employ by the name of "Fred" said, "those are the rules and if we have a problem with that we can go get the police.

I watched them from Brothers for a while longer and witnessed the same two workers turn away 3 different African Americans for different reasons ( I went and asked each person who was turned away). The same two men group let in white men who's shorts were the same length as my friend on four separate occasions. Clearly African Americans are not permitted when they have a sustainable amount...

Abusive and unsafe environment. Let me start off with saying that I am a small young woman, who carries herself with dignity and respect. I work as a bartender, so I know how bar environments should be, and how to deal with customers appropriately and respectfully like the human beings that they are. I came to Gaswerks with a friend of mine last night and he was wearing a white button up, which is against dress code. We had just left a wedding, so everyone in our party was in formal attire (including myself). I politely asked the bouncer at the door why it was against dress code, and tried to see if there was anything we could do to get our friend inside. The man proceeded to yell in my face violently, and shoved me backwards hard enough for me to lose my footing. I then looked over at the FIVE police officers watching this ordeal go down, and they proceeded to yell at me as well. No…Just No! I shouldn't have been surprised by anything considering the sign said “Bad Service”. We arrived late in Columbus and needed some warm food. It was around 10:30 pm and this was the only place close we found with food. I had a bacon cheeseburger with tater tots. My husband had a cheeseburger melt type of thing. The grease the tots had been cooked in must have been old because they had a terrible taste. The burgers did not taste good at all. They had a very generic funky flavor. We had a few bites to satisfy our hunger but literally, just a few because it was bad. We left over 3/4 of our food. The atmosphere…well it felt like all of the girls in the place only know how to twerk because they twerked the entire time and got ridiculously annoying. Look I'm not even old but the “kids” in this place. Man! The bartenders acted like they really didn't want to be there and god forbid you order something from the bar. We will not be going...
