Always a beautiful place to visit in Columbus. It's rather cold in the winter but still beautiful. In the summer, events like ComFest and groups of people getting together for Nerf Gun wars and such. The grounds are well kept. One would think that biking could prose a problem due to the vast amount of dogs usually in the park, but every dog that I have seen/met there over a multitude of years has been very well behaved. Owners are friendly as well, from people that take their dogs there for "doggy playdates" to people going to the Parks and Rec Center. The rec center also has interesting events, from being a place for kids to hang out after school to having events like basketball and workout equipment and outdoor playgrounds. I recommend this park for anyone with a dog/who likes dogs, has kids (the playgrounds and ponds are great!), or just likes beautiful parks. Oh, and especially for anyone that recently moved to that immediate area that meets the earlier prereqs, it's a great way to meet friendly...
Read moreA beautiful park directly north of downtown Cbus, with the AEP/NW skyline visible, High St close to the right, and antique looking Victorian style houses surrounding the park to the North and West. A walking path bisects through the park going from the NW corner to the SE corner, with additional walking paths in the NE corner and a beautiful pond and statues in the pond and elsewhere. There's tennis courts and a playground, as well as a center close to the center of the park. There's a parking lot in the left side of the park, and an awkward curving driveway and parking going from the right side of the park to the center. The main reason for the 4 stars is because homeless people stay in this park. You will see them sleeping here in the summer, and some of them are clearly not mentally stable. Do NOT stay in the park past 11 pm - it is not safe to do so. This park is great for Pokemon Go - it's not perfect because you can't easily do laps with the walking paths...
Read moreI was just driving home from DC after some climate events and decided to take a detour to get m dog, Maci, some exercise. Pulled into this beautiful little park.
Immediately I seen people with chairs, several with chairs and more than a couple people with tye dyes so instantly knew live music was to be found.
Sure enough, a local, and pretty good Bluegrass band was playing. Cold Cave Hollow Boys, I think, was about to play. I stayed for probably half of their set. I only left as I had another 5 hours to go and was already tired.
Park was filled with people. Couples walked hand in hand. People playing tennis. Beautiful pond. It seemed like a place only found in Mayberry. Especially after being in DC for...
