It is the norm at Clippers Concessions for incompetent vendors to not honor advertised specials, to lie, and to cheat. One recent dollar dog day, the lines were outrageuosly long and slow moving. We gave in waiting for them to shorten and got in line at the end of the 2nd inning. In the 6th, we finally arrived to the head of the line to order our $1 hot dogs, which were rung up at $5.50 each. When we asked about the advertised pricing, we were told that the ads didn't apply to THAT concession stand.
On a thirsty Thursday beer special day, the vendor at the Yuengling stand charged me full price for my beers, telling me the special price was only on Friday's.
One afternoon in the club section, I got a small beer and they charged me for a large. When I questioned the vendor, he indicated that the small beer in my hand was in fact a large beer. I can see the cups, right there and pointed this out to the vendor. He took the large cups away and said "oh, those don't belong here."
One day, I succumbed to hunger and ordered a paninni sandwich. When I bit into the hard, cold, and unappetizing victuals, I found that the vendor had not removed the plastic wrappers from the meat before "toasting" the sandwich.
We've been season ticket holders for the last few seasons and frequent park visitors before that, since the park opened. The experiences related above are typical. For that reason, if we intend to eat or drink at the game, we bring our own. This means having security look over our soft sided bag and water bottles before entering. This usually goes smoothly, but sometimes not all security personnel are educated on the requirements. Three or four times a season, we are told by security that we cannot bring in the water containers that we bring with us to every game (literally hundreds of times). This usually causes an unpleasant confrontation.
The park is outstanding, the Clippers are fun, and in all, it is usually a positive experience, as long as you don't go to any...
Read moreWhat a beautiful summer night for Clippers baseball!
We were fortunate to get seats in section 23 just after sunset. It was 77 degrees at first pitch and a slight breeze made the seats in the shade feel like they were air conditioned!
I'm a big guy and the seats are comfortable. The hot dog and 🥨 and 🧀 make for a perfect combo, particularly when followed up with an ice cold Pepsi!
The sound is great and the field looks well manicured. The stadium is one of the best in baseball and it shows.
I saw Corona, Budweiser, and Columbus Brew Company, and Alaska brew company all on tap. I am sure there are others. My wife recommends the Alaska White.
There are plenty of unsold seats, but there are plenty of sold seats too. It's nice to see the city support our AAA affiliate!
The Russian bar trio that entertained at the end of the second inning were rather cool and really appealed to my wife.
We picked up some new caps to support the team and show our Clipper spirit.
The Clippers were playing the War Pigs (Phillies affiliate). You got to love the name of the AAA teams!
Baseball is about as...
Read moreAwesome ballpark! Voted best triple-A ballpark in 2017. It is designed to be a fan's park. No obstructed views so everything is a good seat. There is places for standing and watching the game while you hang with your friends all around the park. The grassy area behind left-center field is great for kids to have a space to run around in and the splash pad cools them off on the hot summer days before the sun goes down.
Of course, everyone loves ballpark food and Huntington Park doesn't disappoint here. Two major concession stands and many smaller stands provide lots of options. Local favorites like CityBBQ and Graeter's ice cream give choices outside the concession staples. Events like Rib Bone Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays offer discounts for the cheap-skates.
The park also invites special guests and offers fireworks after select games so there are always additional things to do or see.
The best part? As the Cleveland Indians affiliate you get to see top-notch talent at a really reasonable price. Ticket specials, especially on social media, can get you in the...
