“Online bookings never work here.” -MGMT
First off, parking is a nightmare to even check in. There are 5 spots in front. All other accessible parking is owned by the surrounding businesses and they will tow you if you are parking for Red Roof. You cannot access Red Roofs $12 parking across the street until you’ve checked in.
Secondly, there was about 40 people in line at the check in counter. And it wasn’t moving. I came back two hours later and it was actually longer. Waiting over 90 minutes to even get to the front desk is something I’ve never experienced in my several hundred other hotel stays.
The worst of all of it were the employees managing the front desk. They were rude and uninterested in completing any task without repeatedly walking into a back room and returning with nothing but a confused look. After spending all of that time in line to get to the front desk, I showed my Travelocity booking information that I placed 4 months prior. The woman crudely rummaged through a stack of printed papers and came back to tell me I have no reservation. She said “Online bookings never work here. We don’t take reservations from those sites.” I was handed my ID back and asked to leave as their were others waiting to check in. Outrageous to say the least.
The cherry on top was when my wife asked if she could at least use the lobby restroom since we had been there almost 2 hours. She was told “the restrooms are for guests and you do NOT have a reservation”.
The incompetence of the staff was on a level that I’d never experienced and I would implore everyone who reads this to avoid this place. I wanted convenience to the Arena, but all I got was an apology from Travelocity and a refund.
I did actually have a reservation btw. They spoke with Travelocity the following day and said it was just a routine mistake on their part. They admitted I was going to be charged by the end of the business day had they not been contacted. RedRoof offered zero compensation for their actions, which is in line with what I expected after my...
Read moreDuring my visits to Columbus over the past years I have seen this Red Roof many times however never had stayed here. ||This July I had a 4 night stay at this Red Roof Plus with a challenging experience. Before I start the review a compliment to the service from the front desk. Always a smile and helping hand and this is much appreciated.||What to expect from a Red Roof was my thought before I started my stay. I had stayed in a RR a couple of years ago and that experience was quite OK.||After the good experience at the front desk the challenges started. Rooms are quite outdated and it is clear that no attempts have been made to modernize this hotel. Which actually should be the case as you are continuously serving public which is visiting the convention center.||Having finally put my stuff in the room I found out that the toilet had clogged from the start onwards. As there was no staff available to assist I luckely was able to get another room at the 7th floor.||This room was the same mediocre level. Even though it was well cleaned at first sight, and compliments for this to the staff, it was a nice surprise to get a visit from a cock roach the first evening.||There is no automatic cleaning service; only on request. Towels are only available on request at the front desk. The rooms itself have an AC but in the hall way there are no AC's available. ||The hotel serves no breakfast or coffee. There are 2 vending machines on-site available.||The hotel has the benefit that it is conveniently situated. However I rather pay some more dollars and be in a nicer hotel surrounding the...
Read moreEach room "just sold out" on Priceline as I moved down the list. I decided to walk in because it was cold and needed a place to sleep. I lost my house in a fire and it was cold and now after midnight. The rate as a walk-in was double the Priceline rate but I had no choice. I head to my room and thought nothing of the TV being on but I couldn't overlook the guests sleeping in the bed. The front desk said "that's weird, gotta figure that out" and sent me to another room. At this point it's 3am. I came down for coffee in the morning sitting among the other guests of the hotel. From across the room I'm asked "do you even have a room here?" And only to me. I asked her if she saw me come through that front door at all since she got here or did i maybe come down the elevator and she left me be. This is when I overheard that floors 4 and 5 weren't being cleaned because no guests should be on those floors. I was on the 4th floor and now I'm wondering why I wasn't supposed to be there and why someone was in my initial room. The hotel itself is fine. However, there's a lack of 'guest relations.' I also wouldn't call it 'customer service.' Maybe what they're going for is a 'you paid, what do you want' approach to satisfying their guests. I come here any and every staycation I have and this was where I stayed the night after the fire. It's progressively become less desirable with each stay at this red roof inn. Bummer because I rather enjoyed once upon a time. It's almost like I've never been there. After 50 times over the last couple years you should at least know my...
