R Bar Arena — Restaurant in Columbus

Last night after searching a comprehensive list of Columbus's happy hour and Tuesday specials (published February 2019) a few friends and I decided to go to R Bar to watch the Blue Jackets away game, primarily for advertised half priced pizza and $3 Miller and Coors drafts. This was also confirmed on the R Bar website and the movable sign directly in front of the entry. When we first arrived, I confirmed the specials we came for, to which the bartender and assumingly only member of staff on duty that night said those specials are for arena non-event nights, also confirmed on the sign in front. I said I understand, however being an away game and no other events scheduled at Nationwide Arena, this is a non-event night, which was met with disagreement. I informed him this is blatant false advertising and to at least bring the sign in from the door to prevent others for coming in for that reason alone, to which he said he has no control over, and blamed management and the owner, the classic cop out for a bartender. He said they had a free raffle to giveaway 4 sets of Blue Jackets tickets between periods, and with only about 10 other guests and 3 of us, we liked our chances. They also did have the game sound on, so we decided to stay. The actual Tuesday special that was not advertised anywhere was $4 Sam Adams drafts and $5 Labatt tallboys, what a great deal! We decided to stay through the 2nd intermission to take our chances at the ticket giveaway. After it was confirmed none of us won, we immediately left for a much better bar around the corner to finish the game.

Beware of the blatant false advertising that should not be tolerated! I will never be taking my business back to R Bar before the many Blue Jackets...

If you enjoy getting a non-itemized bill and items added to your bill that you didnt buy then this is the place for you!

Response from me, post response from owner: Rarely does an owner make such a concerted effort to run their business as well as R Bar. As you know I do NOT hide behind social media, in fact, I would be happy to come in there and meet with you personally. I posted what I thought my experience was and I'm glad you went into the detail needed to make me comfortable with my experience. Just so you do know, the board on the ground that shows the daily specials etc did not show that the specials cut off at 4pm. Unless I am mistaken I did not see that and trust me, I looked for the fine print. That said, I will remember to ask for an itemized receipt if I end up back there and I will be sure to mind the timeframes for specials. I do not fault you one bit for cutting off deals at 4pm but I will say I won't be rushing back to get an $11 dollar Italian Sub. I will say the sub was fantastic. Very good but I'm the kinda guy that is always running a cost/benefit analysis and I while I love the Italian Sub and will be back for one at some point, I probably will be buying it pre-4pm. I left a 2 dollar tip because i felt my checkout experience and lack of an itemized receipt was worth it. Despite how anyone else feels about that, that is how I felt about it and I don't mind making it public. Next time perhaps have your staff ask if an itemized receipt would be desired?

Regardless, I will say the place was very clean, the bathrooms were very clean and the service in terms of speed was top notch. I appreciate a proprietor taking such care in managing their business so thank you. Upgraded...

A Hidden Gem with Exceptional Service and Delicious Food

This was my first visit to R Bar, and it certainly won't be my last. I stopped in late on a Monday night, and despite it being a quieter evening, the experience was anything but ordinary.

Zach, the one-man powerhouse running the bar that night, delivered an exceptional experience from start to finish. Not only was he a skilled bartender, crafting drinks with precision and a welcoming smile, but he also managed to prepare our food—and let me tell you, it was outstanding.

The wrap I ordered was easily one of the best I’ve ever had—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. And the pepperoni pizza? Absolutely mouthwatering. Every bite was loaded with rich, savory flavors, and you could taste the care put into its preparation.

What truly sets R Bar apart, however, is the dedication and charisma Zach brought to the Bar. Balancing both the bar and kitchen with such professionalism is no small feat, and he did it effortlessly.

If you're looking for a spot that combines fantastic food, top-notch drinks, and stellar service, R Bar is the place to be. Whether it’s a casual late-night visit or a planned night out, you’ll leave satisfied and already planning your next visit.
