Our daughter gave us a very generous gift certificate to use at Mitchell's Steakhouse/Polaris, for our anniversary in October. We just got around to using it right before Christmas and were extremely pleased with our visit! The staff were extremely attentive to the fact that this dinner was to celebrate our anniversary--albeit, two months late. All facets of the service were orchestrated very well--not too pushy or hovering, but "on cue" at just the right time. Our waiter, Zach, started each of us off with a cocktail (vodka gimlet/rocks for me, Manhattan/straight for my husband--both just right). After not interrupting our chance to take in our cocktails and some wonderfully warm bread, Zach returned to give us a very knowledgeable and informative rundown about the menu. Once we placed our orders, the dishes came out at just the right intervals--not too quickly or too slowly. Since Mitchell's is pretty pricey, we wanted to get as much goodness out of our gift certificate as we could foodwise, and still include a decent bottle of wine. Therefore, we went for the fixed price offerings, but not before splurging a little with an appetizer recommendation by our waiter. We tried the Spicy Lobster and loved every bite! When our "Steakhouse Classic" dishes arrived, we continued to be amazed. My husband had the 10 oz filet mignon, done perfectly, to his specs (blood rare) and as tender and flavorful as could be. His side of creamed corn was plentiful and delicious, as well. I had the Shrimp Scampi with a side of polenta. Both were beyond delicious. Everything was done just right! And everything was served fresh from the kitchen, by yet another staff member who was part of the well-choreographed service. Of course, we had to save room for the included dessert, so we naturally had leftovers boxed up to take home. Nice mention for the dessert "policy"--even though the fixed price menu listed creme brulee as its dessert, Zach informed us that since our dinner was a special occasion, we could choose other desserts, if we weren't fans of the creme brulee. No problem, however. We ordered the listed dessert and found it perfect--in both presentation (beautiful cluster of fresh fruit nestled in the curve of the dish) and taste. Sugar crust not burnt and the perfect crunchy top to the creamy goodness underneath. Various members of the house staff (manager on down) stopped by to make sure everything was up to our expectations. Even the "water guy" was right there when you needed him! Upon leaving, we received a personalized menu and a photo to commemorate the evening. In all, a lovely evening in a restaurant that knows a bit about service and fine dining. I would definitely return and try some of the other tantalizing dishes--even without a gift...
Read moreWe came here for my momâs 60th birthday dinner. We were very appreciative that they were able to accommodate our large group of 18. The service was fantastic and very welcoming. Our waiter Jerry was great! The food on the other hand was extremely disappointing. For the price I must say it was a total let down. I wanna say absolutely the least flavorful steak I have ever had. Several of us had the filet but it left a lot to be desired. It was tender but dry and chewy all at the same time? A little A1 and ketchup helped! I know itâs a sin but I had no choice! No moisture and no seasoning or flavor to speak of. Salads were limp and drown with dressing. Sides were also bland (other than the jalepeno scalloped potatoes, those were amazing! ) Not sure if they season their food here or not. My brother in laws filet came out grey, totally overcooked and even with the upgrade of shrimp and crab was the saddest thing I have ever seen. If you are paying 52-77$ for a single cut of steak (no sides included) it should be phenomenal but this was just a total rip off. Desserts were good. The cheesecake was tall and silky and rich. The butter cake had citrus notes and although I loved it if you donât care for that then steer clear. The chocolate mouse was beautifully presented but bland as well. Where is the salt!? That would make a world of difference! All in all we had a great evening and enjoyed time together as a family but definitely will not return. FYI our bill was 298$ That was for me and my husband and daughter only. đł whoâs stupid enough to pay 52$ for a 7 oz filet alone especially when your dad raises beef cattle? âŠ. . oh wait .. that would be me!? Never againâŠ. Not worth it! Find a local farmer get some fresh cuts and grill those babies at home. You wonât regret it like us tonight.. đ€Šââïž PS.. the whole place was dead by 730 when we left.. should tell you everything you need to know right there! Lovely staff though wish them...
Read moreOUR FIRST TIME! Morgan was our waitress and it was her training shift and she was AMAZING! My husband and I went out for a lunch date for the first time since the baby was born (2 years) and so this was a big deal for us and Morgan made it feel special and even gave us a free dessert for our special day! I got the 4oz. Lunch filet (med) and that was the best steak I've ever had in my life! The CRUST! OMG THE CRUST! It was seasoned perfectly! But wait! There is more!!!! My meal came with this Mac and cheese and I was thinking of some regular Ole Mac n cheese... but NO! This macaroni and cheese was the perfect texture not too watery but not too thick. And when I tell you that this place has set the bar for any future Macaroni and cheese. .. any Mac n cheese I get from now on will be a sad disappointment because nothing will ever top what I had yesterday. Man, I'm still talking about it today! The potatoes were chunky and delicious they're the kind that stick to your ribs! Everything I had was amazing from the steak to the dessert and everything in between!! The dessert was Creme Brulee and that was the first time I've ever had the stuff. I was pleasantly surprised!! They said it was custard and I was instantly turned off about it but when I put that first bite in my mouth my eyes were big with surprise and My. Life. Has. Changed. Not just because of that but because my whole eating experience has been new for me here. I'm definitely coming back. I love the scene here. I love that when I walk in that everyone is dressed nice it makes me feel that I've just walked into a special place. âšïž I like that the look of the place looks classic. One of the things that I love is feeling like I'm going back in time. This place Gave a fancy 1963 vibe that I LOVE! Thank you Morgan for making this lunch date...
