Olde Towne East has been waiting for a restaurant like Osteria for years. This new offering is not just a pizza restaurant to replace Yellow Brick and Mikey's. It is also a a fine Italian restaurant with a limited menu done excellently. The interior has been freshened up with white walls and plenty of greenery, giving an Italian bistro vibe. My husband and I started with cocktails. Mine was the Orange Negroni and his the Naked and Famous, both delicious and mixed to perfection. We had the warm olive starter that came with plenty of homemade focaccia. The warm olives were served in an excellent olive oil seasoned with garlic, fennel and chili flakes, and you'd better believe we sopped up every bit. We opted for the pasta, all of which is either house-made or imported. Hubby had the Spaghetti with a huge meatball, tender and delicious. I had the Pasta Osteria since I love a rosa sauce. Both were excellent, and we took half of our dinners home. Too full for dessert, we ordered tiramisu to go. It did not disappoint. There was plenty to share, and being a bit of a tiramisu snob, I was delighted that this version was not too sweet and the coffee and cocoa were the stars. We will definitely be going back to work our way through the menu, definitely trying the pizzas, too. After 26 years around the corner, I am delighted to have this new option from the owners of The Tavern across the street. Do yourself a favor and...

Let's start with the good: the Hungarian stuffed peppers were outstanding. Seriously, they were a 10/10 – incredibly flavorful and a must-try, though they do pack a surprising amount of heat!
On the other hand, the Italian salad (with added chicken) felt a bit underwhelming for its $17 price point. The portion seemed quite modest, especially once the dressing container was removed from the salad bowl, which made it appear even smaller. For pickup orders, it might be beneficial to package the dressing separately to optimize the perceived (and actual) volume of the salad. I think my dessert order also got mixed up; I received ice cream instead of the lemon sorbet I'd anticipated.
Given these minor issues with pickup, I likely won't be choosing that option again.
However, the deliciousness of the stuffed peppers has certainly piqued my interest for a full dine-in experience. I'm hopeful that a meal at the restaurant will provide a more complete and satisfying impression of...
