My husband and I ate at PP for the first time this weekend. He had the Calabrese and I had the Tartufo. We both thought the sandwiches were just okay. The ingredients on both were made into a 'paste', which I think threw us off a little. They did not look like what you traditionally think of as a 'sandwich'. The flavors were okay but I personally thought the focaccia bread (which was very tasty) was too thick to house the thin paste of the sandwich ingredients. In other words, the bread-to sandwich-ingredient ratio was off. I would give the sandwiches 3 stars (we agreed we'd go back and try different sandwiches. And I appreciate they have 3 meatless options) but the gelato I'd give 5 stars. It was incredible and I would recommend going for the gelato if nothing else (I know I will). Also, all of the staff were super friendly and helpful navigating the menu. They have a large wine inventory for purchase and various gifts imported from Italy (ceramic mugs from Positano, candles, ornaments, etc). Some of them were arranged into gift boxes priced from about $50-150 that would make...
Read moreI have been so excited to try this place after wanting to try the original Pelino's Pasta for years. I finally made it to Columbus today and stopped in! The menu can be a bit difficult to understand all the ingredients if you are unfamiliar with them, but the employees are really helpful in explaining it. I got the Nduja which was really delicious! They did warn me that it could be a bit spicy but I didn't find it to be too bad. The sandwich was huge and filling, I save half for later! And the focaccia was super fresh and so good! They have a selection of Italian beverages that go great with a sandwich for lunch or a large wine selection as well. The atmosphere was super cute and the employees were all really nice, even offering a free sample of panettone bread while we ate. And don't forget to try the gelato!! Really freshly made with Snowville creamery milk. I got the chocolate and coffee flavors and they were so so good and super rich and creamy! I'll definitely be back for more Gelato and to try another sandwich next time...
Read moreI saw Piazza Pelino on instagram and decided I had to come here. Finding a parking spot is kind of annoying in the short north and they only have a small parking lot, so be prepared to pay for parking. When my boyfriend and I walked in, we noticed a small, but cute place. There was lots of natural light and umbrellas on the ceiling. When we walked up to order, my boyfriend wanted to swap cheese on a sandwich, which they politely declined. There was no issue with this, but be prepared to get exactly what is listed on the menu. They only have focaccia sandwiches and gelato here, but the sandwiches are big enough to fill you up. I got the prosciutto e fichi, which is just a prosciutto base with fig jam. It was pretty good, but there was a lot of fig jam; to the point where it took over the whole sandwich. I believe my boyfriend got the della casa, which he seemed to really enjoy. We then got gelato, which was delicious. If you have some time for lunch or a casual dinner, try...
