8/3/2024 Update to 2022 Review: Our high school class had a “big birthday” party at On the Dunes on 8/3/24. This is the fourth time our group has gathered at this venue and it is definitely our favorite place! Just as we experienced in 2022, everything was absolutely perfect. Every one of their team members are Extra Milers. One of the staff came into the room while we were setting up and asked if he could help us set up. It was very much appreciated. The bartender introduced herself and was super nice to everyone the entire night. The Social Director, Michael, goes over and above the call of duty to make sure everything Is perfect! The atmosphere is accommodating with both indoor and outdoor seating! What a gem in the city of Commerce Township! Thank you On the Dunes for helping to make another party a big success! 8/2022 Our High School class had our “night before the reunion” gathering at On the Dunes in August, 2022. Everything about the evening was absolutely perfect. The Event Manager, Michael, was phenomenal. He made us feel like the success of our gathering was his top priority. He handled everything down to the last detail with great care. The food was excellent and hats off to their great chef and kitchen staff who had to juggle several parties that evening. You would never have known it! The drinks were great and the bartenders gave excellent customer service. Everyone at On the Dunes helped to make our event a perfect night. People are still talking about it and want to plan more events there. Our thanks to the Owner and all of the staff! You have a great business.

It’s a fun bar for activities, but the food is just above what I’d consider “dive bar” food. We did golf and it was okay for the price. I think it was $60 for an hour. There were a ton of golfing spots, but I’d still call well ahead to get the time you want. Fowling also looked fun, but we didn’t do that. The draft beers were tall and cold (I did get one draft beer glass that had just come out of the dishwasher so it warmed up my beer considerably). There is a full bar so you can get cocktails, wine, and beer. They provided great service when there were 2 flies in my wife’s drink (even though she drank more than half). As far as food, you don’t get a waitress. You have to order all your food (even if you have a big table) up at the bar. Then you point to your table and then have to be on the lookout for what could be your food. So be ready to take notes of everyone’s order. I had to guess a couple of items since I didn’t know there were options, like swapping sides. If there was a waitress then it would have helped… Moving onto food. We got the apps of chicken wings and they were okay. Good taste, but not super crispy. The veggie and humus was probably the best hummus we all had. I got the chicken fingers and it came with a lot of food. They were just okay. The salads were just okay and my wife thought the cheese tasted rubbery and the produce tasted unwashed. With that being said, I’d come here for apps, but not for a whole meal.

LONG REVIEW but lots of details. I reserved a lane for their football bowling online through their website. I received a call a couple of hours before hand to confirm the reservation. I had it reserved for two hours (7-9pm). On the call, they asked if I would be arriving early for dinner and told them no, we'd be there right around 7pm. We arrived about 6:50pm. I stood at the front desk for about 3 minutes waiting for the two people behind the counter to greet me, as I thought they were busy. They were not busy; they just didn't greet a customer immediately upon entering the facility. I finally walked up and told them I had a reservation at 7pm for football bowling. I made the rest of payment for the lane and they told me to give them about 5 minutes and someone would be over to get us setup. So we walk over to the bar/restaurant area and was immediately met by another employee who asked what group I was a part of. I said I had a lane reserved. She then looked at a list and found my name and took us over to a table, which was apparently reserved for us when I made the reservation. We sat down and about a minute later a waitress came over and said we couldn't sit there. I told her the other lady just sat us here and that we have a reservation for football bowling from 7-9. She then said we were most likely in the back of the building. She then left to check the status and came back saying it was okay to stay there. She then gave us a menu and left. She came back about 3 minutes later and we ordered drinks (granted they were out of four of the beers we initially ordered). We received our drinks about 5 minutes later. At this point it was about 7:10ish and our lane reservation started at 7pm. No one came by to tell us the rules or provide the footballs or to tell us what lane was ours. My husband then walked back over to the counter near the entry doors and no one was there. My husband waited about another 3 minutes for someone to arrive. They gave him two footballs and told him we were in lane 3. He then walked back to the table and we all headed for lane 3. We took our drinks with us but left our coats at the table as we were told it was reserved for us. As soon as we got to lane three someone came over and gave us instructions. We started to actually play about 7:20. We had fun playing and enjoyed the game. But then about 10 minutes to 9pm, an employee came over to say we had 10 minutes left, not taking into account that they failed to get us setup by 7pm so we lost 20 minutes of time at $65 an hour. We finished our game slightly before 9pm and walked back to the bar area to finish our drinks. At this point our table had other people sitting at it and they moved our coats without telling us. We finished our drinks and then left. Overall the game was fun but the customer service was horrible. Even though we had a table reserved for us with the football bowling reservation, no one ever came over to see if we needed drinks or food. We were completely ignored. We just kept going up to the bar and ordering our drinks (which took quite a while). Also, the waitress kept some of our credit cards to start at tab and others they didn't keep even though we started a tab. Very inconsistent. I'm not sure I would go back at this point. I just can't believe how bad the service was and how unorganized everything and...

This place has a lot of potential, but the service and quality of food was severely lacking. We called ahead of time on a saturday night to make sure they could accommodate a group of about 20 people, and was told it would be no problem. When we got there the waitress asked if the bill would be together or separate, we said mostly separate. Her response was "oh great...my favorite". I am also involved in the food industry so I understand splitting checks is annoying, but it is a necessary evil of the job. If you dont like the job, don't be a server. We were basically the only people in the front of the building, with the exception of some people sitting at the bar. Drinks came out pretty slowly, but were good. However, I wish their beer selection was a bit better. Food took a long time to come out (my friend told me she waited about 40mins for her pizza). My boyfriend's fries came out cold. She did not bring ketchup to the table for peoples fries. My friend finally got her to bring ketchup after trying to ask multiple times....arrived about 10-15 mins after the food. My pizza had bbq sauce instead of marinara on it...I asked the server and she tried to convince me it was marinara. She either doesnt know what their food is supposed to taste like or lied so I didnt send my food back (either way not good). I saw my friends pizza later in the night and hers actually had the correct sauce on it. They have no buisness charging the prices they do for their food. Is is not good and tastes/looks like low quality ingredients. The server was kind of rude at times and really seemed like she did not want us there...weird because we thought that as a server (and because we were the only ones eating) she would like to make some cash on a saturday night. My friends are good tippers so she probably still made out pretty well, but not nearly as good as she could have if the service was better/she dropped the attitude. Other than maybe stopping by to try out one of the games sometime, we will be taking our buisness elsewhere. Thats about 25 people that think poorly of your establishment and would not reccomend it now....not...

I would first like to say I think the idea of a sports complex/bar/restaurant is awesome and that is probably why I will continue to go back. It pains me to think of how this place will probably be closed in a few years as there is never anyone there but the management has done that to themselves.

I'm going to start with their organized leagues, or should i say disorganized leagues. No one seems to know what's going on and the requirements change pending on who you ask. We were recently told that we can't sign subs up for our team, which is ludicrous. We run with a team of 8 allowing for two subs and now if we all show up they won't be able to play, this is an asinine "rule". The only real structure the league provides are a court number and game time. If you want anything more than that, this is not the place for you.

The reason I like to play here is I can get a beer while playing, its supposed to be a fun relaxed environment but for some odd reason it takes 20 minutes to get a beer. Its quite ridiculous and has been consistent over the past few years and over multiple different waitresses. I've come to the conclusion its a systematic issue and I live with it. The staff seems to look upset all the time which I conclude is because serving their customers is such a difficult process and it really affects the service. This is probably a reason I see so much turnover with the staff, that or the place is never busy and no one can make enough to work there.

Not once since I've been going there, probably 3 years now, has anyone other than the wait staff came over to my table to see if everything is alright. There have been times when our table has been clearly upset, orders were wrong and drinks were later than the normal long wait, and there was no manager in sight. I've seen the same issues with many other tables there as well.

Overall I love the idea of On the Dunes just not the actual place. There is a lot of wasted potential due to what I believe is poor organization and a lack of customer service. I hope they can turn...
