⭐️⭐️⭐️ A bit of a birthday letdown, but still love Del Pez!
We came to Del Pez in Glenn Mills to celebrate two birthday’s today! We’ve always loved this location specifically for the pizzas, so we were pretty bummed to find out they no longer serve them. We actually came all the way from Delaware just for that reason, so it was a little disappointing to start the celebration with that surprise.
We pivoted and ordered the nachos with grilled chicken (our usual go-to at the Newark location), but this time they brought out shredded chicken instead. One of the drinks also got mixed up, we asked for bottled sparkling water but were brought club soda instead. These may seem like small details, but they added up.
To be fair, the staff was kind and professional. They did remake the nachos with grilled chicken and didn’t charge extra, which I believe may have been a courtesy and we appreciated it. That said, the wait was quite long, and when the nachos arrived, you could tell they had been sitting out, the cheese had gone cold and dry. The chicken was the only part that felt freshly cooked.
The main dishes came out shortly after, but sadly, they were also cold. The street tacos were especially greasy, and the tortillas were falling apart; again, seemed like they had been waiting too long before being served.
It wasn’t the best experience food-wise, but we do want to emphasize that the atmosphere is still great, and the service itself was friendly. We think the experience could’ve been much better with just a bit more communication. A quick check-in about the grilled chicken not being a standard topping or confirming the type of water would’ve gone a long way. These aren’t dealbreakers, just training moments.
All in all, Del Pez remains a spot we love, but this visit reminded us how much we value the Newark location. Their chefs and staff really are top-tier! We’ll be sticking close to home next time.
Still grateful for a birthday spent out and about—just hoping for a smoother experience...
Read moreWent here for date night and it was so nice outside that we decided to dine there. We went around 6:30pm and it wasn't that crowded and was sat outside immediately. Later on by the time we left the place was bumping and I saw people waiting.
As others mention this isn't your normal Mexican restaurant where you get chips and salsa to enjoy while waiting, but if you are a first timer then you will be given a three dip sample tray with chips. The dips were beer cheese, salsa, and corn cake. All three options were fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed them.
We ordered the nachos for the appetizer and they were good, my only knock on it was the cheese wasn't the beer cheese earlier but was more like cheddar cheese melted on. So by the time you eat it, it's a bit dry. This also made the nachos a bit dry, but with the carnitas on it, they were tasty.
Next we ordered the chimichanga three different types of tacos with a side of street corn. They were all fantastic, the street corn was good without the little white cheese they put on it.
Overall we will definitely be back here with friends. There was a bit of a kerfuffle with a table next to us as the conversation became political and thus got a bit heated. I can't knock the restaurant for that, it's just the climate we live in. My wife's margarita was good, I had a 60 minute IPA.
Oh and while sitting outside we saw 2 separate groups with their dogs, so it looks like the place is dog friendly (just make sure they are behaved people and no not your definition of behaved which means they don't bite but bark at any and everything, but are actually quiet...
Read moreWent for Trivia on Wednesday and had a blast. We sat at the bar and started off with margaritas. They had a deal for margarita flights so we got that to sample the flavors. The watermelon was my favorite. We ordered chips and salsa as well as chips and guacamole. The chips tasted like they were fresh and home made and the salsa was rich in flavor with a small tang of heat. The guacamole was extremely fresh, tasted amazing and came in a molcajete. Even my friend who does not like guac enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and the bartender asked if I preferred the chicken grilled or wanted to leave it shredded. I got shredded and the chicken was excellently seasoned and marinated and was evenly spread through the quesadilla. My friends ordered tacos and they looked amazing and by how quickly they were finished its safe to say they enjoyed them. We will be back for more trivia and tacos. Staff was kind and the atmosphere was warm. Even though there was music and trivia it wasn't too loud or...
