Wanted to take a minute to share my experience last night. My daughter and I had reservations at Ravanesi. We arrived about 15 minutes early and were immediately greeted by the staff. The owner made eye contact, smiled and we were seated within minutes.
My daughter and I are both huge fans of the white so we ordered and waited. We didn’t wait long for our food but throughout the time we were waiting the owner kept making eye contact, smiling and asking us if we were ok. Both waitresses did the same. After I was done eating I went over and talked to the owner probably for about an hour. He is one of the most down to earth guys I’ve ever met. We talked about everything. Work, life, kids what he does in his free time. We actually share a lot in common. He is very driven and goal oriented. In speaking to him about business you can tell he actually “cares” about his customers and wants to ensure everyone has an outstanding experience. This stands out and speaks volumes to his character. It’s not often we meet honest to God decent human beings but he is without a doubt one of them. He will always have my support. Both waitresses were also sweet as could be. It was a very warm, inviting experience that made us feel like we were at home and this is the type of experience I absolutely love!! Wasn’t my first time here and certainly won’t be my last.
Pictured below : Bianca is my absolute favorite!!! (Fresh mozzarella, parmigiano reggiano, fresh garlic, extra-virgin oil & oregano) this is the one place I can eat an entire pizza and not feel disgusting, it’s not heavy at all and has so much delicious flavor it’s honestly hard to stop eating it. They will also provide minced garlic on the side per request...
Read moreFor authenticity of a Neapolitan pizza I give this place a 5 star but read on for why I settled at 3 stars.
I am truly surprised by how many Americans have not tasted the authentic Neapolitan pizza. It is easily the best pizza I have had in Naples, Italy. And the fact that most people here have never known or tasted the true Neapolitan Pizza is what wows them when they try it the first time and that prompts the 5 stars for reviewing this place. The Neapolitan pizza is truly the best pizza in the world.
However for those who have tasted this kind of pizza before will also know that these pizzas never cost as high as you see them priced here. I had to knock off two stars primarily based on pricing. Yes, their pizza is good but I have had the same or better Neapolitan pizzas in Philly at In Riva and Spuntino to name a few and these are some amazing places in the city. The overheads on a location in Philly are way more than a inconspicuous small place in a strip mall on Route 1. The Margherita costs $11 at Spuntino in the city and $14 at In Riva which is an amazing casual dining restaurant with an amazing location and amazing menu. Then why does this place charge $17 for a Margherita? The simple answer is because they can so props to them. Hate to say it but I feel they have gotten overly greedy due to the popularity. And to top all of this, they want you to call in to save your dough? And then wait in line to be seated every time you go there. Really? No thanks. I’ll go to Philly.
Update: Bought the Ooni Koda Oven and now I just make my own...
Read moreOmg this was amazing. Best pizza I've ever had, and very similar to the pizza we had in Rome -- except here they cut it for you and cook it just slightly crispier... Although you can request it more or less well-done. The staff was wonderful. They let us order two pizzas, both half-and-half, so we essentially got to taste four of their pizzas at no extra charge! The white/garlic, the margherita, the spicy soppressata, and the sausage. The owner came out and greeted us towards the end of our meal and he was so kind and grateful. They said next time we should try the soppressata ON THE WHITE PIZZA! I can't even imagine how good that would have been. We came early enough (~5:15pm on a Wednesday evening) and didn't have to wait more than a few minutes, but I hear the lines can be crazy depending on when you go. They cook everything from scratch that morning, and they close when they run out of dough. It would have been well worth a substantial wait, in my opinion. It's also BYOB! So bring your favorite 6-pack or a bottle of red and enjoy. Oh, and don't forget the dessert pizza with nutella and some kind of jelly with powdered sugar on top. It's warm and sugary heaven. We'll be back...
