Homey Thai Bistro — Restaurant in Concord

Super disappointed to leave this review, but after spending almost $300 with this restaurant, I have to say that it’s not consistent enough for me to spend my money and know that I’m going to get great food. We started picking up a few times in the evening. I believe it’s the husband. His customer service is excellent. The food is always so hot fresh and delicious when he serves it when we go for lunch it is a totally different experience. The Wife is not as friendly, she doesn’t seem to speak English. We ask her questions. She sort of just looks at us like she does not understand. The food is just a completely different taste and lacked flavor. It just didn’t taste fresh. We went a couple of weeks ago and spent about $70 and literally could not eat any of the food so I’m just now getting calm enough to leave a review that wasn’t as angry in the moment. We are very disappointed because we really did have a moment of enjoying this food. I even tried to ask the wife if there was possibly two different chefs, maybe a luncheon a dinner chef maybe we just won’t come during lunchtime as literally the food was not even edible for us compared to the night time. It was like you can’t get enough so it’s disappointing to have to leave this review but I want people to know that consistency is an issue and if you can possibly figure out which Chef is back there throwing down, you might get a taste of some good authentic food otherwise I would be sure to taste your food before you leave because I live in a whole Nother city. Tried to love it, but I don’t. It’s not terrible, just not as good as it could be Ordered 1 app, cheesy potstickers, as it was a safe bet I figured; I was wrong. Some things are not better with cheese. But they explained that their calamari appetizer was tubes and tents, not steaks like they show. Ok. It is what it is. Really Really wanted to try the soup, but they refused to sell a small bowl/portion. Okay, moving on… Not a single item on the menu comes with peanut sauce, so if you want it, it’s extra. I bought extra ordered Pad Wokn Sen as it has glass noodles. Ordered with Pork. No flavor, at all. I mean really extremely little flavor. So added the peanut sauce. Only ok, somehow. Pineapple curry is a red curry, and consistency of running water, but it tastes ok. Not great. I wanted it to be great. I ordered a small garlic rice serving, which has roasted garlic flavor and it good. I just spoke to the owner, he came out to check tables and I let him know. I will be back to try a few...

We decided to order take out from here without ever trying the food. I read the reviews, made sure reviews were written by SEA's because iykyk and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious everything was! I'm SEA with family still living in Thailand, I have visited Thailand numerous times and this place is now my go to whenever I crave Thai food! Everything was so tasty and authentic, each dish was flavored correctly and brought back so many memories of my trips to Thailand.

We ordered the pad see ew, green curry, pad kra pow, tilapia fillets, pineapple fried rice, laab salad, spicy green beans, and garlic rice. I brought it over to my parents house and we all silently ate, no complaints, just lots of 2nd helpings and happiness 😄
