Something about the food overall just wasn't quite right. Can't quite put my finger on it: Didn't taste bad, but not especially good either. Just an odd, bland sort of taste no matter what it was, but with the sole exception of the fruit salad, which was good. I was there with a friend at a generally slow time of the afternoon; not more than 50% occupancy. So we finish eating after about 45 minutes and two plates apiece later, then we sat and talked for about another 30 minutes. But before we were even done actually eating, I look over and there's this Chinese woman employee, about 30 years old, standing conspicuously at an empty table about 20 feet away with her hands draped over the back of a chair, wearing an irritated look on her face -- and just STARING at me. She was mostly not in line of view with my friend, so not sure if he noticed her. But amazingly, she keeps on STARING at me; and I get the distinct and uncomfortable feeling that she feels we have already been there long enough and she thinks we should just leave. So I finally start STARING right back at her straight in the eye until she apparently starts to feel self-conscious and then walks away. The woman evidently adheres to a Chinese culture thing or something that dictates people should not only eat their food faster than we were eating their lousy food, but that people should not linger around talking after eating, and should just promptly LEAVE THE PREMISES. But this is NOT freaking China here boys and girls! If you want to live like you're in China, then MOVE BACK to China! In the meantime, have fun running your customers away from RUDE CHINA LADY who likes to stare at people while they are eating, because you will be 100% sure to NEVER see my...
Read moreToday myself as well as my family went to Canton for a memorial dinner for the anniversary of the death of the matriarch of our family my grandmother Lenora Seaunier. There was about 12 of us in total and we all had a really great experience this was one of my grandmother's favorite restaurants that's why we chose it. The food was pretty on par for this establishment it was quality maybe not the best in the industry but it was good it is very good salt and pepper squid unfortunately this squid is frozen so it's a wee bit chewy but it was delicious nonetheless. I also enjoyed the pork spare ribs as well as the pork fried rice and you can never go wrong with a plate of crab puffs the food when we first got there was a wee bit past its freshness but with the restaurant being full it didn't take long for it to be be replaced with fresh helpings of all of our favorite Chinese foods. The server's we're just your basic unfriendly but not rude Asian ladies that you would expect in a restaurant like this. They were quick and efficient with removing used plates and refreshing our beverages the only complaint that I would have is the fact that they seem to be a bit stingy for lack of a better word with the napkins also I would add that their bathrooms well being clean could definitely use a remodeling update it's not that they were dirty just that they were so old and heavily used did they give off the appearance of uncleanliness I would recommend this restaurant if you were looking for this type of dining but as I always say it's best to check it out...
Read moreEverything seemed to be overcooked. It was just gross and the staff was incredibly unfriendly, they didn't smile, they didn't thank me for coming, they didn't leave me a fortune cookie which I really could care less about but have come to expect when a bill is presented to you at a Chinese buffet. Worst of all was the food, I think I had diarrhea for 24 hours after it. I was raised to eat everything on my plate, so I ate it but I had the grossest feeling when I left there. Just one example, the sweet and sour chicken which I usually like to eat as an appetizer without the sweet and sour sauce was so hard it felt like it was going to break my teeth a couple times when I bit into it. The worst part was I've usually had really good experiences with staff where they're friendly and kind and helpful and available. Another example I ordered a Pepsi and ice water to go with my buffet, and they drained 45 minutes that I was there reading my book and eating, they never came to offer or to ask me if I wanted a refill of Pepsi and or water. It's not that hard to be civil and to be generous and nice with people, and yet I really felt this place just left a really ugly taste in my mouth, in my stomach, and in my memory of liking Chinese buffets. Sorry, I don't like to be this critical but it really was overall...
