Las Vegas|Fought with My Travel Buddy, But the Food Was So Good It Made Me Smile Again

My first visit to Pampas about 12 years ago, was very unimpressive. I was in town on business and had just spent three grueling days at CES. A buddy from another company and I wanted to celebrate the end of the event and we both liked Brazilian Grill and another friend had tried Pampas and told us he liked it. I later found out that the friend who made the recommendation considers the best pizza to come from Pizza Hut. Had I known this at the time, I would have skipped that first visit and not spent the next decade cutting a wide berth around Pampas, especially after moving down here. Last year, Pampas hosted a Yelp Elite event and I accepted an invitation to attend. I figured that if it was as bad as it was the first time around, it wouldn't cost me anything and I'd still get to hang out with my friends from Yelp. The happy surprise from attending that event is that the quality has risen dramatically since my first visit in 2011 and my wife and I really enjoyed our meal. We enjoyed it so much that we've been back several times since and will continue to visit regularly. The quality and preparation of the meat has come up dramatically and since we've been there multiple times since that Yelp event, it seems to be consistently good. Also, if you get on their email list, they will mail you extremely useful coupons at least once a month. The only things keeping this from being a 5 Star review are the fact that we made reservations for our last visit and were on a schedule but they still made us stand around and wait for about 25 minutes for no apparent reason. We were a party of four because some of our kids were with us so not a huge group and we got there soon after they opened and the restaurant was pretty empty but they still left us standing there, which made us late for our next scheduled event. I went to the counter to inquire as to why we were having to wait and the hostess definitely shined me on, which was frustrating. I also will point out that their salad bar/self-serve side dish offerings are extremely limited in comparison to every other Brazilian restaurant we have ever dined with. Despite these issues, I'll give this four stars for two reasons; the quality of the meat and the coupons that bring the price down to be on par with Tucano's in UT, which isn't necessarily our favorite Brazilian spot but is consistently good and has the most reasonable prices of any Brazilian spot we dine with.

Went here for my birthday dinner!! Food was fantastic!! Pasador’s we’re all amazing!! Very punctual, very friendly and informative, the unlimited sangrias with our Groupon purchase was the best part!!! Now for the the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because, when me and my group of friends arrived we had a kind male server. He took all of our drink orders from the unlimited list of beer, mimosas and sangria ( white or red ), to our surprise it was a while before we got our drinks. Later on after getting 2 or our courses we got our drinks,. The reason being that out of no where we get a different server who retakes our order of drinks... when we ask her what happened to our previous server she replied “ oh, I’m better and besides I’m the bartender.. “. What she didn’t know is that all 8 of us had all previously or currently work in the restaurant industry for over 6 years.. when she said that all of us ( all 8 of us ) gave each other the “ uh oh “ look. So I replied “ oh, so how’s that going to work? “ ( being that we were not close to the bar at all so we knew our drinks would take long to refill). She went on and said “ oh don’t worry! I can handle it. “ and walked away with our orders. To our not so surprise exactly what all 8 of us thought happened.. we had the slowest service the whole dinner, we would be done with our glasses and would have to wait about 10 minutes for her to come back and serve us. We know it wasn’t her fault but the fact that a manager allowed her to take a party of 8 no where near the bar is ridiculous. Doesn’t matter how strong the bartender may be, it’s that it’s harder to check on customers and get refills etc. Other than the delayed bartender everything was great!! With Covid present in this time they were practicing social distance, we sat 6 in a half corner booth & 2 next to us at a table. The whole restaurant had masks, etc. Reservations are a must if you want to be sure of a table! Walk ins are welcome but I saw there was a wait.

CAUTION: MULTIPLE PRICE WARNINGS & MORE BELOW. Six of us ate lunch in mid-July 2024. We were "seated" by one of those childish rolling "robots" (see pic) that took us to our table. Upon seating, the waiter SNUCK two large bottles of water onto our table (one still water and one sparking water) and thankfully I caught it and told him to get those off our table since I would not be paying for them. I asked for tap water in glasses and thankfully he obliged. THE PRICES FOR THE BOTTLED WATER are OUTRAGEOUS. All six of us got the all-you-can-eat meat buffet where they bring the meat to you, ask if you want some, and then cut it for you, while you grab the meat with your tongs. Most of the meat was great. Some beef was very rare. The chicken was boring. The sausage was outstanding. The "meat waiters" did an incredible job and were fast on their toes. We were never offered any other menu items, other than the beverage menu. The buffet includes food from the all-you-can-eat salad bar in the back of the restaurant. This buffet area was underwhelming and unattractive to say the least. We all agreed the salads were average at best. There just wasn't anything special about the food, and they certainly had nothing to do with Brazilian culture, except for the black beans & plantains. Thank GOD we did not order soft drinks because they are $7 each with refills included!!!! If we each would have nonchalantly asked for a Coke, that would be $42 plus tax and tip, JUST FOR 6 COKES!!!!! My entire life I have not seen soft drink prices like these. It is my opinion that the restaurant is aware that most customers have no idea what they are getting themselves into when they ask for a soft drink, and so they are raking in the money! I have to mention the "robot" again. He/She/It was so incredibly annoying because as it rolled past us to show other customers to their tables it was playing music. Was it playing Brazilian heritage music? No. Brazilian hits? No. Instead it was playing The Weeknd. And it only played ONE Weeknd song... on REPEAT. All we heard for our entire visit was the ONE song over and over and over. As mentioned we asked for tap water to drink and I appreciate them bringing water to us. My glass sat empty for well over 20 minutes while neither the human waiter, nor the robot stopped by to ask me if I wanted more water. FINALLY, I lost my patience and flagged down the waiter and asked for more water. Did he bring one water to me? No. He brought SIX GLASSES. He put them all down on our table, filling any remaining space, and he did not take my empty glass, or any of the other glasses away. So the six of us now had 12 glasses on our table! It gets worse... While visiting the Boring Buffet of Salad, I was standing there witnessing the manager conversing with an employee. They were having a work-related "drama" conversation, for all to see and hear. They were not behind the counter, or behind a door. They were out in the open, in customer space, having a workplace drama conversation. As I am staring at them both, watching the show, she turns and asks me if I need help and I reply "No, I am just listening." My goal being that my comment would make it obvious that I could hear all of what they should NOT be talking about in front of customers. All of this in a restaurant that has a regular mid-week lunchtime meat buffet price of well over $65 plus tax and 18% mandatory tip, along with $7 each sodas. With all that revenue you'd think they could update the decor and maintain the place a little better? See pics. TL,DR; There are coupons that will get you in here for $34 each, if that's how you'd like to spend your money. The meat is good. The salads leave a lot to be desired. Avoid the EXPENSIVE drinks, and try not to pay attention to the outdated and dirty decor, or workplace conversations. Oh, and ask the stupid robot to mix it up a little bit :)

So decided to try this place after receiving a coupon from the rental car agency. When we got there an older gentleman dressed in a chef's outfit greets us and says you want to try its a good deal and proceeds to hand us the same coupon regular price $66 but $45 with coupon. After asking a few more questions he proceeds to hand us a "better" coupon for 50% of ayce 14 different kinds of meats and salad bar. I asked him why wouldnt you have started with the better coupon first sir? He laughed and said i wasnt sure you were serious or not. But he assured us we would love it and said do you like lamb because you get Lamb here with the ayce. I love lamb all kinds of way and was super excited about this so we proceeded to get a table. They sat us outside on the patio portion which we didnt like but was told they are closing the main dining area so these were the "only" seats available...saw multiple people walk in and be seated inside. Salad bar was ok small and nothing really worth the amount we spent. So we figured well the meat was going to be amazing after all this is a steakhouse right. After a long wait i mean like 10 min long we finally saw some meat. Up first was the lamb. Very disappointing. It was overcooked and grey looking, dry and tough. It was my friends first time trying lamb and I felt bad that it was this lamb. The pork that came next was good and moist but nothing to write home about. the next piece of beef was ok as well as it was not overcooked and had a nice medium finish. Next few meats were meh. Chicken was not good. Sausages were meh as well. Didnt even see the "14" different meats you get when you do the ayce and what we did have was nothing that was like yes this is worth $36 which was the coupon price! I definitely would not pay $66 for this. The kicker was when asked what we wanted to drink we said water. And 1 of our friends ordered a beer. Tell me why the water came in a bottle? And then some kind of stuff floating around in it. Then tell me why they never mention that the water is $6.99 a bottle!! That was just crazy. I would be ok with the price if everything was on point and delicious and i felt like I got my moneys worth but honestly it was not. It ruined these types of steakhouses for me as this was my first time to this type and ive been told i really have to try it. I wouldn't be look for another to try. I say save your money and go else where.

The food was delicious and the restaurant looked great. This was our third time coming to Pampas. A few days ago, I received an email from pampas that gave us a coupon of 50%off dinner, Rodizio, to which we couldn't let go. We arrived at Pampas at 5:45 pm, and we requested a table at the patio, but the hostess said there was no server, so we sat inside. We waited for about 10 minutes at the table but no server came to our table so we proceeded to the salad bar. After another 5 minutes from coming back to our table Mariely C. Came by and very quickly said, "I'll be back with you guys." It took another 5 minutes, and she finally came to introduce herself and let us know of the new prices for our meals after the 50% off discount. I believed this was something so irrelevant but I guess using coupons sent by the company she works for is not a good thing. Anyway, she took our drink order. I asked for water. I expected San Pellegrino or Aqua Panna as our previous visits, but no this time she brought us tap water. Then I asked if could order the beer special she said yes you have one hour for this deal. She brought us our beers and said if you need anything else, I'll be right there. You guys are my last table too. A little later after our second round she came and ask if wanted to get another beer because our hour of beer special was over to which we said yes. She got about 8 feet away from us and stood there. She kept on looking at us to the point that my husband said, "Let's ask for the check. Maybe she wants to leave." Sure enough, we paid our bill and she left. But When I was paying I did asked her why other times, we were allowed to take our time drinking our beers even if we pass the one hour special and not this time. Mariely said well I have to report those servers who allowed you to go beyond the because they shouldn't then she said "we actually have to asked a manager for permission if customer go more than an hour". So she knew she could do something for us and chose not to. Her service was very poor. Staring at us made us feel uncomfortable and rushed to eat just because she wanted to leave. I wish we had had a different server not rushing us and let us enjoy our dinner and birthday celebration. I also noticed that the patio was sat within minutes after of our arrival. Honestly, it was a very unfortunate experience.
