Pho Dai Loi #3 — Restaurant in Lilburn

The two of us came to visit this place out of convenience. The restaurant is located down the street from where we stayed during our recent trip. The staff was somewhat pushy for an order. It was our first time and we did not have a chance to familiarize with the menu. We ordered the hot tea and jasmine tea was served. The tea has a pandan flavor which may be pleasant to some but may be not to others. I had ordered the Phở Tái Nạm and was disappointed. The broth was more on the sweet side and did not have much of the beef broth content you would expect. The overwhelming use of mushroom powder and/or rock sugar made the broth tasted almost like a sweet soup. The Tái meat was a poor quality cut of beef chuck. It was over cooked by the broth and did not retain any beef flavor. The Nạm meat on the other hand was a little bit undercooked. It was so tough that it was not enjoyable to eat. They did give a generous portion of meat. There were three sizes, small, medium, and large. The prices were $10.50, $11.50, & $12.50 respectively. At these prices, I would expect the flavor to be decent but was a bit disappointed. My wife had ordered the Bún Bò Huế. The bowl was full of the blood cake cut in small chunks. It was quite a lot and can be intimidating for someone who don't want to consume blood cake. The vegetable plate was mixed with banana blossom and bean sprout for both of us. The banana blossom was specific for the Bún Bò Huế but there was no other vegetable besides it. My wife ended using the coriander leave, the Thai basil, and the bean sprout with the banana blossom. I've seen other places serving shredded purple or white cabbage as condiments to the Bún Bò Huế. Likewise, Bún Bò Huế would be well complimented with the shrimp paste which was missing. This is one, if not my only, favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I found this gem nestled between a laundromat and goodwill about 3 years ago when I moved to the area. I've tried a ton of Vietnamese restaurants and they were good don't get me wrong but once I tried Pho Dai Loi 3 it was settled, I've found my favorite convenient restaurant for my Vietnamese cravings.

Growing up I've had plenty of home cooked Vietnamese dishes so it's hard to find restaurants that can give me the same satisfaction that comes when my mom makes it for me. The pho here is amazing. The broth is deep and rich in flavor and they give you so much meat! It's a steal with the prices they charge! I've ordered something off of every section of the menu and I've never been disappointed. The meat is tender and never over cooked, the spring rolls are fresh and the smoothies are delicious. My favorite is the durian smoothie with tapioca. And if you love coffee you must try the Vietnamese iced coffee with sweet condensed milk, but be warned it is extremely strong. For my fiance and I to have a meal there it's no more than $20 and trust me it's filling.

Other than the amazing food the service is great. The waiters are patient and are more than willing to answer any questions or make substitutions to your meal. And they are very fast. We are usually in and out in 30-45 minutes even during their busiest hours. If you're in the area and have a craving for Vietnamese or want to try pho for the first time I definitely recommend trying...

This is as close to eating at a small shop in Saigon as you can get. I knew it was going to be good when I was walking in and local Vietnamese were eating and continued to come and go. I also observed the waiters and waitresses eat the same thing I ordered.

All you need to know is order a spring roll (2) appetizer ($3.00), choice of four types and a large bowl of pho ($8.50) with your favorite meat . It was tasty and you will be very full. Vegetables were fresh and the tastes and textures were perfect.

When you are finished eating walk up to the counter and give them your table number to pay. Service was very friendly and I took the waiters advice on what to order. The Vietnamese Christmas music was a nice detail.

There is no place like this where I live and with the local population in Norcross, Pho Dai Loi should be very successful. Any visitor to this city should go here for their first meal. If I was staying two days I would go twice. They are just south of the Krispy...
