My personal honest review: Knowing others enjoy golden corral, as I've visited several throughout many years, and without giving a truly negative review, I only acknowledge, for the most part, that I don't purposely choose this restaurant chain as a preferred place to eat. It's been many years between my last and most recent visit. I sampled different items on the main bar, salad and dessert bars. The thin steak was ok, the fried chicken, meatloaf wasn't. The roast on the bar was old, dry and unable to be cut to be plated. I asked for fresh and the attendant complied, leaving the old on the bar until I nicely suggested a second time for it to be removed. It was not servable to be eaten. . The fresh roast was tender and ok. I didn't try the pizza. The mashed potatoes are less appetizing than what's served in a school lunch. The Mac n cheese is gritty and bland. I sampled the canned fruit from the salad bar and a couple of desserts. The cakes, fudge are good. I had to refill my drink as there was very poor table attendant service. There was zero attention to the area I was dining in and all empty tables were left unattended to. I had to ask for a table to be cleaned to be seated and this was done carelessly by the dining attendant. I noticed the bar attendants adding fresh food on top of old food. The other patrons didn't seem to mind and were enjoying their meals. I wanted to enjoy my dinner with my friend, but left quietly feeling as though my dinner was my dessert. I regretfully wasted a lot of food that someone else might have enjoyed. This is my personal honest review. I don't intend to steer others away. I understand there's value for many other patrons. I'm not a picky person, I just don't much enjoy eating at golden corral. If I were again invited to go with friends who really wanted to eat there, I would gladly go, have the salad and dessert bar, and enjoy my visit with friends. If I had no other choice I would go and eat as well as I could. To be openly fair, I haven't tried every item, haven't ever eaten the breakfast bar. Maybe I should give the breakfast a try. Maybe they have good...
Read moreIf you haven't eaten at a Golden Corral before, plan on choosing your drink glass and drink before you reach the register. It's a strange concept, I know. And, at this restaurant, only one of the ice machines is working.
The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I was pleased.
Now to the buffet,.. The cubed pepper jack cheese felt like it was coated in a powder, and it wasn't very cold. Most of the salad bar was very well filled and fresh looking. I was surprised, but the seafood salad was chilled and tasty.
There were some food choices which appeared to have been there a while without having been stirred or added to. This was shortly after seven PM. The chili near the baked potatoes was dried up and crusty as was the chicken pot pie. And the ham from which we could get slices cut looked dried up and like it was curling up it was so dry.
The dining room assistant, Teague, was top-notch. She came right away to see if we needed steak sauce or pepper sauce. Initially we said no then I asked for the pepper sauce for my greens. She kept my husband's glass full, and, in chatting, we found out she grew up in my home county in Mississippi. Small world.
The dessert bar had been raided. Oh, and the undersides of the counters need wiping, too. I laid my plate down to get some ice cream and my finger went into something sticky under the edge of the cabinet. Gross.
Overall, the food I selected was meh to good. The young cashier at the front who helped us, just as I determined the ice machine didn't work, by steering us to the working machine, was friendly.. Teague's...
Read moreMy wife and decided to eat here (Conway, AR location) for dinner, and we most likely won't be back. We ate here back in 2017 and after 6 years we returned, but its not worth what you pay for it. Just for the 2 of us it $42 and some change. This total was with a large to-go cup, but the charge for that cup is ridiculously priced at $3.50. To eat here you spend over $20 a person to eat room temperature food. The choices of food are there..quantity isn't the issue. It's the quality you get. Yes there is steak, fish, shrimp...etc. But most of that food is under a light, and in a warming tray that either doesn't perform well or is just trickery to make you think you are getting warm food. The only thing this place has going for it is if you want to eat unlimited mediocre steak (and its the closest thing to fresh you will get). Service was ok, but technically it hard to judge service because all that person does is refill your drink. I kind of feel sorry for the so called servers there, because the cost of eating there is so expensive that its unaffordable to tip service. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular. Its cramped and no more different than eating at a fast food place. For $42 I wanted walk out with the attitude of bragging to family of where I went and what I ate. Instead it was like well we ate food, isn't was't worth what we paid for, and we won't be returning. Chinese buffet food has similar choices, quantity, and you only pay around $33 for 2 people (with drink). Golden Corral is WAY over priced, and not worth what...
