I’ve been going to peeking for years and has been my favorites Chinese restaurant in the valley. I’ve heard they’ve gone downhill but it didn’t stop me from coming until this time. Just went to dinner and was so disappointed. After seeing they’re not serving sushi anymore when we first walked in, we almost didn’t go anyway. but we sat down anyways and got offered tea and water by the host which was the best thing we got. It took our waitress 10 minutes to even come over when she only had 2 tables around us, and was catering to them but didn’t even glance at us. Then she finally came, didn’t even introduce herself or apologize for the wait, just asked us what we wanted for drinks. My boyfriend asked what was in the scorpion bowl and all she could say was ‘rum and some other stuff’ like what ? Go figure it out, or memorize your drinks. He got it anyways, and it was good. Then we ordered the sweet and sour appetizer. It came out and was litterly just chicken fingers and this nasty sweet and sour sauce that we had to dip ourselves. So seeing this we canceled our chicken finger dinner that we got. Then other test of our food came , pork fried rice, wontons and pan fried dumplings. Everything looked really good, and I asked for general tsos sauce for my pork fried rice and I said SAUCE, even my boyfriend heard me say it and this girl puts in an order of general tso chicken!!! By the time she came over we were full and just wanted boxes and saw that on the bill and brought it up. She was very slow on everything and just a terrible waitress. The table behind us were angry too and there were about 5 tables around us not bussed and full of trash. I was disgusted. I’m a waitress so out of everyone I should know what it’s like, but there’s no excuse for a bad personality and moving like a sloth. Will probably...
Read moreI was just there with my son for dinner. The service is pleasant the waitress she was very sweet and very attentive, The aesthetics of the place is Pretty very oriental, the food is very bland. And not just bland but bit Chinese food. The chicken wings was over fried and under seasoned, the egg drop soup looked and tasted nothing like egg drop soup the color was very pale white and there were carrots and peas and mushrooms in it. My son took one sip and was automatically turned off. (He’s 8 years old) It was very tasteless and watery. The steam dumplings were decent. The main dish we ordered was chicken and broccoli with white rice. The rice wasn’t jasmine rice at all it looked almost like instant rice very dry and very rubbery, if I bounced it on the floor it probably would’ve bounced back up at me. The chicken had a very odd taste it smelled rancid almost. My son ate a piece of broccoli and was ready to use the bathroom. I was very disappointed with the meal since I had high expectation of an authentic and tasteful meal. I hope you guys really work on authenticating your food. If it wasn’t for google and how nice the waitress was I would’ve given this place no stars. I don’t want to be compensated for my meal which was why I didn’t say anything to the waitress I just hope they read this review and work on their cooking skills so that their business could stay...
Read moreOrdered take out about 15 mins before close. I, well aware of my faux pas, apologized profusely and left a $20 tip to accentuate the point. —there’s not very many options for food nearby during the late hours.
I’ll cut right to the chase. The food i was sold for both meals was rotten. I mean foul. My stomach immediately rejected my first bite and inspired a closer look(and smell). It’s almost like they used my meals for an opportunity to sell some portion that fell behind the rest and sat there for months. Cant believe i didn’t smell it before i bit in.
I’m trying to keep this as clean as possible while still being accurate. With that in mind, there’s one more thing. Even though the bit i took was evacuated, i was green for 2 days afterwards.
I hate giving this place a negative review. Really. It was always a staple of my visits to the area when i was a kid. It was almost a magical place with the fountains and art on the walls. I believe it’s changed ownership since then and you don’t even look deeper than the view from the lot to see it’s glory days are long past.
It was easily one of my favorite places from childhood and it would be wonderful to see it given the care it deserves. ..and have a staff that isn’t willing to poison patrons for cutting it...
