WORLD CLASS FOOD AND SERVICE ! My beautiful wife and I went for dinner on FEBRUARY 12, 2022 to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day. We have been huge fans of Christy’s for decades but this was our first visit after it reopened under new ownership. I will rate on a scale of 0-5 with 5 being EXCELLENT:
THE PLACE: 5 Elegant environment as always THE WINE: 5++++ OUR outstanding server (JACINDA) recommended a superb red wine “Eight Years in the Desert” very smooth, fruity wine, really really good. THE APPETIZERS: The Escargot: 5 The Caesar Salad: 5+++++ The legendary salad was absolutely exceptional as always, the crisp, cool lettuce, the dressing the Parmesan cheese and the anchovies PERFECTLY balanced; OUTSTANDING ! THE ENTREES: FILLET MIGNON; 5+++++ We both had the Fillet Mignon with Bernaise Sauce; it was excellent to say the least, cooked and seasoned to perfection. THE SIDES: POTATOES AU GRATIN: 5+++++++++++++ Incredible dish served for 2 ; you have to try this delectable tasty dish; amazing, GRILLED ASPARAGUS 5++ AND SAUTÉED MUSHROOMS: 5++ Savory, tasty, awesome ! DESERT There is quite a collection of great deserts, we decided on a simple one: THE KEY LIME PIE: 5++++ The simplest desert on the menu but it was delectable and second to none.
THE SERVICE: 5++++++++++++++++++++++ Simply outstanding world class service . Our server JACINDA was courteous, elegant , throughly knowledgeable about the menu, wine selections, she made excellent recommendations and just made us feel welcomed and comfortable throughout the evening; the food was expertly timed and served with no delays whatsoever.
THE PRICE / VALUE: 4 Our dining experience was about $200 plus a well deserved generous tip for our server JACINDA; expensive but well worth it given the quality of the food and service for a very special occasion like Valentine’s Day .
SUMMARY:
Christy’s is BACK ! This iconic restaurant in the Gables has not missed a step under the new ownership; better than ever...
Read moreWith a quick perquisite; I'm a frequent visitor of flemmings and higher end steak houses so to speak. On to my review: I'm very dissapointed with my visit to Christy's. From the moment me and my date walked in we were offered a seat at the bar. This was a Tuesday night and the the resteraunt was mainly empty. We declined to be offered it again. I was wondering why we were being pushed to the bar with it being empty. So finally we were seated at a beyond small table. Knowing we prefer something bigger to make sure our meal is not cramped we asked for a bigger table. We got it awesome. We ordered drinks and appetizers. For the main course we ordered ribeyes. It wasn't listed on the menu that they were boneless so I assumed they would be bone in. Big disappointment when they came out with no bone. Speeding this story up, we racked up a 400 bill. No biggie. We asked the waiter for 2 cups of ice to go and was met with the manager coming to our table saying she know what we're trying to do and we can't take alcohol to go and so on. I assured her that wasn't the case so no worries; can we please just have our ice. She again denied us 2 cups of ice to go and walked away. I mean if it was that serious she could gave us the ice and watched us walk out with Just ice in our cups. So me and my date are sitting there in amazement like I wonder if our skin color was different would this be happening. From near the kitchen we seen different staff peek around the corner as to see which party manager was having an issue with. After so long a different waiter came and so we asked for the cups again with being denied and being told it has to have a beverage in it. Ok fine. Refill our sprites so we can get away from nightmare of a date at a steakhouse we will not ever visit again Iife. On a side note. I figured once you are spending a certain amount a resteraunt you can kind of get what you want. Only if your color is right. Giving this resteraunt negative 5 stars. Worse...

They are charging a fine dining price range but the food quality and services failed to live up to their menu prices!
My table's filet mignon. Ordered medium rare and delivered well done.
My ribeye was of poor quality. Not particularly tender and a bit salty
we skipped appetizer; the server did not pick up the appetizer knife and fork until after the entree when clearing the table.
the salmon and scallop dish are easy better prepared than the steak. Regardless a shame for a steak house!
Right in the beginning, be I told my server that we will order the Baked Alaska for dessert. They knew I was celebrating my birthday that night. Unfortunately, my daughter didn't feel too well right after entree and I had to take her outside for fresh air. With 2 of 4 tops empty, they decided to serve the Baked Alaska without warning. What attention to detail is that!? If the server paid any attention to his table, he would have hold off the desert! Or at least ask!!!
Don't ask my kids if they want more water! Just refill it!
I asked for hot tea for my daughter before they brought out the Baked Alaska. The hot tea still didn't arrive when I was done with my dessert.
please don't blow off the flame in the glass by yourself (the server), at least not in front of the guests. The glass and rum may not longer be used for my table, but it still looks unsanitary, especially in these days and age. Have your management to provide you a lid to cover the glass.
