What an amazing restaurant! I went here a couple weeks ago with a few of my friends, and I was absolutely pleased by my experience! We were seated immediately as we did come right before the dinner rush. Our waitress was kind and properly attentive, refilling our beverages and checking on us periodically with good timing. Don't fret about the German names for the food items haha, you'll be fine and the waitresses will know what you mean. For the meal I ordered as an appetizer the soft pretzel, which is something everyone should order! First of all, it is truly huge, and second of all, it taste delicious! Warm and soft, it pairs well with the side condiments of mustard and the paprika cheese spread (which is just wow amazing). For my meal I order the jägerschnitzel mit spätzle, where I got my schnitzel as veal rather than pork. The spätzle was good, and the veal schnitzel with that bacon mushroom sauce was fantastic. They don't skimp on the sauce as my schnitzel was absolutely smothered in it, and I'd want it no other way! For dessert I got the apfelstrudel, which is of course apple strudel, and it was a truly great way to end the meal. It was warm, with a nice large dollop of whipped cream on the side and 2 neatly presented pools of fruit sauces to eat with it. Now, it may be a bit pricey here, I won't lie about that, but the food is still great, and the look and atmosphere of the entire restaurant is beautiful. Huge screens around the restaurant playing soccer and other sports news muted, with nice radio music in the background, and the walls are adorned with cool items! One wall is filled celeing to floor with different glass beer bottles, and another wall has some soccer memorabilia. The bar in the left part of the restaurant looked clean and nice, and the mildly open kitchen to the right is intriguing to look into as you eat. Overall, the food, atmosphere, and staff were all just perfect! I will always recommend this establishment to everyone I know, and I of course will be...
Read moreI went there with some friends late at night, probably 30 minutes before they closed the place, so that pobably wasn't very clever of us. Nevertheless the attention was very very pleasant.
The food wasn't that exciting; I ordered what I believed was their signature burger, and while the bread was pretty decent (one of my major complaints when eating burgers), the meat could improve a little. On the other hand, they have an interesting selection of beers which is definitely worth checking. We tried just a few that were recommended and found one that was simply delicious.
While I haven't had the chance to try their whole selection of beers and food, I'm giving them 5 stars because the attention was excellent. Our waitress, whose name I didn't get, was extremely sweet and kind, specially considering we got in her way of getting home early for a good night sleep. She took care of us like the day was just starting, and I appreciate that. She made some good recommendations about food and beers, and she really knew her way around all the fricky names in the menu.
By the end of our meal we were also approached by a gentleman, whom I presume was some kind of manager or supervisor, and asked about our meal, and he too was very kind despite the timing.
Before we left they came to say good bye and offered us these small bottles with a very tasty alcoholic drink in it, which name I can't remember. I'm not sure if it's standard procedure or not, but we thought it was a nice touch either way.
As a side note, the music and the atmosphere is also very pleasant, and it even seems like they have live music sometimes, though I'm not 100% sure.
We felt welcomed enough to enjoy the place, so chances are we'll be coming back to try some of that delicious beer and see what other interesting stuff they have...
Read moreI went to watch the last el clásico match on April 21st with my dad and a group of friends. I couldn’t get there prior to the start of the match, but my friends were already there and had reserved a section of a bench in front of the big screen inside the bar. It was the first time I took my dad to Fritz and I was excited to show him one of the most soccer friendly bars in town. I got to the place right before the start of the match and as I located my friends and was walking to the bench by the tv, a man stood right in front of me blocking my path. He sternly asked with whom I was with, so I proceeded to point to the group waving at me. I thought he was going to assist us in getting there through the crowd or give us the fastest route to the bench (the bar was packed), but instead, he told me I should get there earlier next time or he wouldn’t let me seat. I then realized, to my disbelief, that this was either the manager or owner. I felt frustrated to say the least, and wanted to tell him that the food at the establishment is not good or authentic, and that I would rather eat before coming into the bar than spend my money on a subpar hot dog or pretzel, but because I did not want to miss the match which was about to start and scramble to look for another bar in the area, I tried not to make a big deal out of it and nodded as I proceeded to walk to the bench. I don’t know on what power trip this guy is on or if he’s been left unchecked for too long, but that is NOT way to treat the patrons of your establishment. I will never set foot in here again, and if you ask me about Fritz and Franz and still want to visit after this review, I’d recommend you have a meal before visiting and to watch out for...
