UPDATE....I was here four times this week. I sat in my usual place at the Pasta Bar and I was also outside having a cigar too. I got the wings one day, scallops with angel hair pasta with lemon butter, Rigatoni pasta with pic pac sauce with goat cheese and a chocolate dream. Yesterday I just stopped by and had some beers. There no issues. Food was good, the fresh baked bread was nice and warm, and the conversations had I with the staff and management were AWESOME! According to Google Maps this place is only 5 minutes from my house....I'm one lucky dude! Stay Hungry!
Reading some of these recent negative reviews make wonder if the folks who are typing them are perfect. They must perfect if they are beating up the new Proprietor when she has only been on the job since October 2016. Very few diners come to this Carrabbas more than me. Very few have been coming here as long as me. So I'm here to set the record straight. The sky isn't falling and the world isn't coming to an end. Not only is the Proprietor new but you have a lot of new staff and a relatively new Kitchen Manager. You have to give them time to work out any kinks. Victor was here a long time and with longevity comes experience and confidence. Even with his long tenure he was not perfect which is evidenced by all the negative reviews prior to October 2016. Basically what I'm saying is give the new staff a damn break. Give them a chance before you start using words like incompetence. Folks who are so quick to negatively judge without even telling a manager to their face what the problem is are cowards.
The Food
Is Carrabbas the best Italian food in Coral Springs? NO! Is it constantly good? YES! I sit at the pasta bar all the damn time. Nothing has changed with the way the food is being cooked/prepared. The presentation is still the same. You basically have the same line cooks; Jesus, Maricio, Al, Lloyd, and Jay. Al who is one of the best Position One cooks I've ever seen was out sick, two long time line cooks got new jobs and the Proprietor has been working the cooking line along with the kitchen manager. I've seen them. This is what happens in the restaurant world. Things happen and new staff need be hired and trained. I've seen so many staff come and go under Victor's watch it would make your head spin. The best thing I say about carrabbas food is the portion size for pasta is way larger now thanks to CEO Mike. The new pork chop is amazing I'm a fan of the wings, mussels and who doesn't love the Chicken Bryan. It's all still very good. Not to mention they still have one of the best happy hours in Coral Springs which includes half off appetizers.
Service
I don't have any issues with service. I know most of the servers because I'm a loyal customer. On top of that I try to get to know them as human beings. Not someone who is fetching me food. They work hard. Only one time did I complain about an employee in all the years I've been going here. I told Victor to his face what the problem was and it was fixed like immediately. I suggest if the service sucks for you tell the manager ASAP to their face and I guarantee it will be handled appropriately.
Verdict
It's still the damn same with some new faces. I highly recommend you sit at the pasta bar and watch them work. You will see with your own eyes that it's still the same. I really believe the new Proprietor and her staff in one year will make this joint better than ever. I really believe that! Remember to tell the staff that Dan I Cook sent...
Read moreBefore I wrote this review, I'd been to this location a few times, mostly for takeout. There was almost always something not done as I requested. I do have to say that Jose (manager) did a terrific customer service job after someone overcharged me and left my gift card with a zero balance. He gave me a couple of gift cards for my inconvenience. That is where the great service stops, though. I stopped there again yesterday on my way from work to use one of those gift cards. I explained to my waiter in great detail that I do not eat any kind of cheese, sprinkled or mixed with my food. I double-checked with him about the soup and chicken marsala, and I ordered a crab cake appetizer. He said NOTHING until I bit into a crabcake and tasted cheese. I thought that maybe he was new and unfamiliar with the menu. But when I casually asked him about what kind of cheese is in the crabcakes, and he said 'I believe it's fontina'. That really ticked me off - he had no right to serve me something that he knew was made with an ingredient I specifically requested to leave off my food !! I told him that he needs to take customer requests seriously, because people can have allergies. He apologized half-heartedly and walked off, and after that someone else brought my entrée and he never returned to see if the rest of my dinner was okay, or to offer me dessert, or to refill my water, or to give me a doggie bag. The chicken marsala really needed more sauce- actually there was no sauce on it, just mushrooms - but he just kept walking past me. I think that he assumed I was a lost cause and he was going to focus his attention on larger parties where he might get a decent tip. What he did not know is that I was a waitress during college, and I tip very generously. I never blame the server for kitchen mistakes, and I really don't mind if he forgets something or spills something, but this kid screwed up and then continued to be a jerk by ignoring me. So I emptied my wallet of a few change coins and that was his tip, which was about as low as the quality of the service. I sat at my table for 15 minutes, deliberately waiting to see how long it takes him to bring my check and container for my leftovers. Finally, I asked the hostess to take care of it. There is Bonefish Grill not far from this place and although they are part of the same company, the food and service quality are so much better. Won't go back to this...
