A hole in the wall type of a place, was extremely busy when we entered. The guy behind the counter saw us but did not acknowledge when we entered. We waited for about 3-5 minutes after which he told us that the table will be ready. He got the table cleaned and we finally sat.
We ordered 2 appetizers, and an entree. I requested him to bring us 2 glasses of water for me and my pregnant wife and a bottle of beer. The beer arrived right away. After about 15 minutes or so, the first appetizer arrived. And, I reminded him for the water once again. To which he jokingly replied and I quote " no, you cannot have water". I smiled back but didn't say anything. After I reminded him, I saw him go from one end of the store to the other end, inside and out of the kitchen, small talk with several customers, take checks among other things but no sign of water for us.
We waited about 20 minutes more. By, then the entire order along with the entree was on the table. I finally got up a few minutes after the food had arrived, filled me 2 glasses from the cooler behind the counter. I kept a glass right in front of the gentleman for him to see that I was filling it myself. Forget apologizing or acknowledging, he didn't even flinch.
Food: Veg Pakoras - okay, nothing spectacular. We felt that this had too much baking soda which is commonly used in items like pakoras and samosas to make them crispy.
Chicken Tikka/Boti - this was probably the best item on the table. Good spice, well seasoned. We would have loved a slice or 2 of lime/lemon. But the gentleman never came back to ask us if we needed anything else. The only reason, he got 2 stars was because of this chicken.
Lamb Kadhai - disgusting. The brownish, watery gravy had nothing spectacular about it. The onions and green peppers in it added no flavor or taste. The lamb was hardly well cooked and tasted rubbery.
Oh, yes, my wife had to use the restroom which was on the other side of the kitchen. She had to walk through a very dirty and filthy kitchen. the floor had food droppings. I wonder if there were any roaches??!! She didn't see any though.
I wonder how long this place will last in the market??! This place badly needs waiting staff and some one courteous behind the counter whose responsibilities include tending to customers in the restaurant rather than taking phone orders.
We will...
Read moreThe food is mediocre/decent, but definitely not worth the prices for a restaurant which uses paper plates and plastic utensils for table service (even since way before the pandemic and has poor customer service. Fuethermore, there's no ambiance to speak of, in fact it is quite bleak, This is a mom and pop restaurant, which obviously can do as they please without corporate oversight, but refuse to give an inch. My wife is vegan - never an issue for any Indian restaurant which always have extensive vegan options, as this place does. The manager told her she can have a lunch special, which is a whopping 13 to $15 - the same price as an ala carte item only it includes naan and dessert. After we sat down and ordered an appetizer we were told they can give her roti instead of naan.. but MUST charge extra. even with knowledge that she would also be foregoing the dessert. They didn't offer to do anything else for us, just charged the same ala carte price but there was no lunch special involved. We could have went to a nice four star Indian restaurant with great customer service, a nice ambiance, better entrees, and even complimentary finger food for the table, such as papadam, for the same...
Read moreOut of all the Indian places in the area this is the one we keep coming back to. Let me get this out of the way, the place is tiny and if you decide to dine-in you'll get your food on foam plates and eat with plasticware and I don't intend to make that sound like a complaint, there is nowhere on their website or name does it indicate that this is a fancy dine in place but some of the reviews I've read complain about the place calling it divey or giving it a lower score because it's a small place. It's an amazing take out place and they have tables set up in case you'd like to eat your food there. My wife had the Lamb Rogan Josh the first time we ordered from here and hasn't ordered anything else since and I don't blame her it is absolutely delicious. I have been trying different things on the menu and everything has been amazing. The spices they use are on point and they ask for what spice level you want on a scale of 1 to 10 and even though I usually love spicy food I can't go past a 7. I can't recommend this place enough, and if you want the fancy dinner experience, order to go and bust out the nice plates at home the food from here will...
