Edited yet again September 2024……… This establishment can’t keep an owner. This is the 3rd rendition and after raving over the second owner, Bagel Depot on 7/23 my personal experience this time around was a big disappointment. The bagels themselves are decent, but OMG, they’re like miniature versions of the ones sold under Bagel Depot (see photo with Bagel Depot’s bagel on the left and Schmear’s bagel on the right) and Schmear’s are more expensive! We all understand and have no choice but to accept higher prices, but, in my opinion the prices are too high, like $7+ for a bagel with one egg and one slice of cheese. The smallest drink I’ve ever seen was $4. When it comes to the loose bagels, the last owner often offered 9 giant bagels for the price of 6. Not these new owners. $1.60 per mini bagel, IF you buy at least 1/2 dozen. The thing I was turned off by the most was the atmosphere. It was more reminiscent of a social club out of Brooklyn than a CS bagel joint. The owners and/or investors, were acting like goodfellas right out of a movie. Talking loudly, tapping each other on the back like they just got out, not saying boo to any customer, unless they knew them. The last owner not just introduced himself to us, he actually took the time to sit with us and share his journey from postal worker to bagel shop owner with us. The new owners…. crickets. In my humble opinion, what with NYC famous H&H Bagels having opened off 441, and another popular chain, Mitch’s Downtown Bagel opening a Coral Springs location at the corner of Sample & N. University, practically right around the corner, one would think these owners would step up. Sadly, I think they stepped back. EDITED July 2023……… As you can read below, we tried this place quite a while back and were, well let’s just say we were disenchanted. Recently we found ourselves in that same shopping center and noticed that the name changed to Bagel Depot. I figured it was just a name change and that everything else was the same, but I endeavored to go in a try it again anyway, albeit slowly with just 1 bagel. Well let me tell you, NIGHT AND DAY that was the difference, turns out it wasn’t just a name change, but an ownership change and these bagels are by far the best I’ve had in the almost 2 decades I’ve been living down here. The prices are so much more reasonable than other close-by bagel places too and the food here is so much better. Their nova spread is 1/2 the price of the “other” place and twice as good. Go figure. If you want a real, authentic NY tasting bagel without breaking the bank, give this place a chance. You won’t be sorry. I assure you! BTW, the owner, Mike came from out back to say hello. Nicest guy you’d want to meet. Bagel Depot has found a new “regular” customer with our family. Original Bronx Bagel owned review below. From 1 star to 5 deservedly so. Terrible. Simply terrible and I hate using such a strong adjective when rating a person’s private business. I went in with an open mind and cleansed palate ready for whatever they served up and boy were we disappointed, not just in the food which was awful, but also in the inept service. I usually comment on prices but truth be told, even if they gave it away it still cost too much. There is nothing I would recommend in this establishment. I would never return nor suggest it to anyone. Bad service with attitudes. Bad food. Unclean “looking.” If you want bagels, try Bagels and a Whole Lot More on Sample. If you want deli, you’d be much better off at TooJay’s on University and if you don’t mind a bit of a drive and can deal with higher prices, trek up to Ben’s deli right off 441 in Boca it’s absolutely worth the drive and cost. Bronx Bagel & Deli might survive as they’re the only game in that part of town, but even so, I don’t hold much confidence in their future although I wish no one bad luck.

Looking for a place that takes sandwiches seriously? Schmear Bagel Co. on Wiles Road isn’t just about bagels and breakfast anymore—it’s bringing top-tier deli subs to Coral Springs, and they’re not cutting any corners. I tried two of their newest offerings, and let me tell you, these aren’t your average subs. The Italian Sub is everything you want in a classic deli sandwich: layers of thinly sliced meats, fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers, crisp greens, and a perfect drizzle of oil and vinegar. It’s served on a crusty roll that holds up to the bold flavors, with a side of pasta salad that ties it all together. The Meatball Sub is where things get exciting. Served vertically in a stand (yes, really!), this beauty features tender, house-made meatballs covered in a rich tomato sauce made from whole, unprocessed Italian tomatoes. The kicker? A dollop of fresh ricotta cheese on the side for an extra creamy touch. It’s comfort food taken to the next level. What sets Schmear apart is their commitment to quality. They roast their own turkey and beef in-house, and for pastrami and corned beef, they source from Sy Ginsberg/EW Grobbel, one of the best small provisions vendors in the industry. No Boar’s Head here—just premium ingredients and real deli craftsmanship. Schmear may be known for its bagels, but don’t sleep on their lunch menu. These subs are a game-changer for Coral Springs, offering the kind of deli experience this area has been missing. Whether you’re craving a classic Italian or something hearty like the Meatball, Schmear delivers. Trust me—your taste buds will thank you.

This was Friday morning around 9:15 The aroma is great It’s impeccably clean The staff is really nice and helpful But the ordering process really to be improved. There were 9 people in line when I walked in There is only one really nice young lady taking orders AND she had to keep leaving the counter to go get orders of cream chz and other items. The cooks and others were not busy as the orders are slowly being placed 1 at a time, there were only 2 parties at the tables but this one girl was juggling several responsibilities and through no fault of her own it took about 15 min just to finally order. The bagels we got were delicious. The menu looked great and we look forward to ordering again…but will be calling it in😎

I’m writing this review but, I kinda don’t want to. In my own selfish way, I want to keep this place a secret and not share it with the world. On the other hand, I also need them to stay in business and they need customers to do that. Anyway, let me just say that the bagels at this place are incredible! They are not too dense, light and fluffy, yet fulfilling. My husband and I both agree - it’ one of the best bagels we’ve ever had. I can’t describe it exactly but, they definitely got the bagel thing down. We’ve also ordered pancakes, a bagel sandwich, coffee, and more from this place and everything we’ve had so far- was really good. Sometimes the line can be a little long (Sat mornings) but, that’s only because they make everything fresh for you (anything other than bagels). Let the long line serve as a confirmation that you’re really in for a treat. Also, the girls working the register and behind the scenes are great! The place is small but, they know what they are doing. Keep up the good job...
