It is sad how one employee can turn an otherwise nice evening into a bad experience. I met a group of friends at the lounge, also known as the Grand View Ballroom at the Best Western. We met on a Wed evening. The view was very nice. The decor was nice. Since there was not any music in the background, it was an easy place to enjoy conversation.
HOWEVER, they would not sell soda to the designated drivers or to people that preferred not to drink. My friends that did not want to drink were told they were saving the soda for mixed drinks.
One friend went down to the hotel lobby and was able to purchase a bottled soda downstairs. The other non drinkers settled for water. I had a glass of wine. Some of the other in the group had craft beers of some sort.
As we were leaving, a supervisor type of employee asked to speak to the organizer of our group. I had noticed this lady earlier in the evening and she had a very unhappy demeanor. Anyway, this employee proceeded to chastise the lady that organized our get together. She complained that we did not spend enough money on drinks. Again, had they served nonalcoholic beverages other than water, they would have earned more. Those of us that did drink knew we were driving home, so most of drank only one drink.
She complained that we moved chairs to accommodate everyone in the group. She complained that we were too loud. Granted, there was not many people at the venue, so may have broken the silence. Our group was not loud or boisterous by any stretch of the imagination.
If she had a problem, it might have been better addressed when the problem was occurring. Instead, we were basically told- we were bad customers. Do not come back. I am a real estate broker, so I wonât be going back nor will I recommend the venue to other people. corpus zchristi has a lot of other nice venues on in the waterfront district. Our treatment at this place is by no means reflective of the...
Read moreThis is the first, and hopefully only, bad review Iâll leave on google. The staff at the Grandview, particularly the bar manager, was incredibly rude. Shockingly rude actually. Some friends recommended the bar for the views, but when we arrived we were bombarded by questions about how we were getting home (it was 10:30pm) the manager demanded to see our Uber app, then demanded to know where we were going next to ensure âliability wasnât on herâ. We were not drunk! This is not to say we havenât been drunk before⌠but we werenât when we came to the Grandview, and arenât now! That woman has no business being in the service industry, she drove 6 customers away. We would rather go home (sober) than purchase a drink from her. What a shame because the location is so great.
Editing to add the names Allie and Priscilla, the Grandview should seriously consider investing in other bartenders. We canât be the only people to have experienced their surprisingly...
Read moreGreat view of the bay and enjoyed gathering there with a great group of friends. Experience was marred by the manager/bartender who complained that we were too loud (so not true) and had moved chairs. Those complaints were just to deflect that she was upset we did not purchase enough alcohol (of course, many of us did have a drink).
The manager/bartender was quite rude to me when I did order a drink, giving me attitude when I dared to ask what beers were on tap and then which ones were in bottles. I find that the vast majority of restaurants and bars in Corpus Christi have tremendous service. This was not the case last night.
I will neither be returning to the Grandview Lounge nor recommending it to anyone within my professional circle of friends. I am greatly saddened by this as I have enjoyed my previous evenings at the Grandview Lounge (including the majority of...
