We were staying in Rockport from Houston and drove the extra 30 minutes (hour round trip) to take my friend's son here. He really wanted to go. It is right by the water, two stories and he was thrilled to go. That was the end of the positives. Both restrooms had broken stalls, as well as were very dirty (apparently the men's was even worse than the women's according to my husband, his best friend, and his son) my husband actually walked in and back out saying he'd just hold it. It took a good minute just to order food, they didn't have strawberry shakes so I got vanilla and husband got banana pudding and neither were mixed properly and had clumps of powder in them. It took over a half hour to get our first batch of food for 2 in our group, and another 20 to get the rest. The first people were done eating before we even got ours. My burger was cold, looked like it had been stepped on, and all of our fries were completely unsalted and cold. I don't mean slightly warm, I mean not even the least bit warm. We asked for ketchup when we ordered and they said it would be delivered with the food. It wasn't and we had to ask 3 different people for it. I ended up eating my husband's dry and stale toast with gravy in the car because they were all done eating and I didn't want to make them wait even longer. I took one bite of my burger and that was it. I'm not a picky eater by any means but I also know not to eat anything that tastes off, especially when we had about 4 hours to drive. The place filled up as we were waiting on food and getting ready to leave. I don't even want to know how long those people will be waiting for food because it wasn't busy when we got there and still took over an hour to order/get food. Don't get sweet tea either, apparently it wasn't good at all according to the two who got it. With being a huge, two story and on the water you'd expect a bit more. However, this was the only whataburger I've ever been...
Read moreWe waited 30 minutes to get fast food. THIRTY MINUTES. The place was a little busy but not packed by any means. I asked for a vanilla shake and was given a banana one. The girl realized the mistake when she handed me the banana shake and said she would make another one. While waiting for our food I took a sip of the new one, it was still banana. I went back up to the counter for a second time and the girl said, "oh! It is still going to taste like banana because I poured out the banana shake and topped the cup with vanilla. So there's still banana in the bottom of the cup." I'm sorry, but WHAT??! You purposely reused a cup that still had the wrong thing in it? Why??!! Get a new cup ffs. That's insane and just gross. While still waiting the 30 minutes for our food, I had to go back up to the counter and wait in line for a THIRD time because they forgot to give me my daughter's cup for her drink. BOTH ice machines were broken and it was a hot summer day. Other customers brought it up to management's attention and no one said or did anything about it. We finally got our food and got back to the hotel we are staying in and we were missing the brownie my daughter ordered AND my burger was made completely wrong. I guess we should have checked the bag, but after all of the nonsense over the 30 min we were there, I was ready to get back. (Also... just make the food correctly and double check that the customer has everything. It is your job and certainly not a difficult one by any means.) The absolute only positive experience about this waste of $40 for two combos and a brownie, (ridiculously high prices!!!!), was the onion rings. They were good. That's it.
Whataburger is usually good, but this location and their staff are truly awful. I would have left zero stars, but it's...
Read moreI visited this whataburger because I have heard of this famous location. I envisioned a state of the art, clean whataburger with some great food. When getting close to the restaurant, I couldnt help but notice how run-down parts of downtown Corpus Christi have become. I haven't been there in many years but remember it being a lot nicer. Upon entering the front door a homeless guy walked up to me & begged for money. He told me he would watch my truck for me if I gave him some money. I told him I didnt have any cash. It made me feel a little uneasy like he might do something to my truck since I didnt give him money. I kept looking out the window to see if he was anywhere near my truck. The lady taking the order was very polite. When sitting down I noticed a lot of the tables were dirty but a lady came and wiped my table down and she was very polite as well. A few trashy customers came in and one caused a scene when ordering. I couldnt tell what happened but the cashier got really mad for some reason. I have a feeling she had the right to be judging by the look of the customer. (she looked 100% like she was on drugs) The food was OK, but I have had better from different Whataburgers. The building seems dated & could use renovations for being a top tier example for the franchise. I went to use the restroom and it was discusting, I wouldn't even go because it was so nasty in there. I will never go out of my way ever again to visit this...
