When my family and I arrived at 9 pm the hostess told us it would be a 50 min wait, we were a party of 10. She took our information down and said she would call when a table became available — in 50 minutes. We got back at 9:45 since we did not receive a message or a call. When we came back the hostess treated us as if we were coming into the restaurant for the first time, however, once we explained that we were already here and that we were told to come back she walked away and got the other hostess. As she did this, we peeked over the counter to look at the screen and noticed that our name wasn’t listed. She began to say there were still people sitting at the table and as soon as they got up we would be seated since the party before us had been there approximately 2 hours already. We went downstairs to wait, we were finally seated around 11:30 under the A/C vent. Our food was ready at 12:30 am, we asked our server to box our food up because we were tired, it was unbearably cold inside the restaurant, our children were falling asleep, and we’ve been waiting for 3 long hours. Our waitress understood and apologized and went got the manager to whom we explained the situation to. He apologized as well and told us he would go and boxed up our food personally, not once did he offer to accommodate us and he assigned blame to the waitress and the cook. When we received the bill we were asked to pay full price, we let her know that having to wait for that long period of time with children who are now fussy because it’s so late hungry and so cold it would be foolish to even think we were paying the full price she took the receipt back to the manager and he applied different discounts to everyone tab that totaled off $80 for the whole table. The meal that tasted like a rushed job, there was not a trace of seasoning, the entire steam pot was under cooked. My impression of the Joe’s Crab Shack in Corpus Christi was awful and it tarnished the franchise for our family as the experience was disastrous and horrible. From their inability to communicate the time frame to when the food will be cooked and served, or the poor customer service shown when we first arrived is horrible. I trust this is not the way Joe Crab Shack’s franchise wishes to conduct business with valued customers like i said previously I have been to this restaurant before in Austin and have never experience this type...
Read moreOur visit to Joe’s Crab Shack in Corpus Christi was a tale of two halves. Everything started off wonderfully, with our server Rebecca proving to be the highlight of our evening. Her joyous and positive attitude, coupled with a great sense of humor, made the initial part of our visit a delightful experience.
We had chosen to sit on the outdoor deck on the second floor, which provided a beautiful ambiance. However, the wind picked up and we found ourselves needing to move indoors. We apologized for the inconvenience, but Rebecca handled the situation with grace and professionalism, relocating us inside after confirming the availability of space.
Unfortunately, this is where the pleasant part of our experience ended. Two power hungry, undisciplined individuals, a young man with a bowl cut and an older gentleman, both waiters at the restaurant, approached us with a completely unacceptable attitude. They rudely informed us that we couldn't sit at our new spot because it was reserved without a resolution. There had been a miscommunication, but the way they handled it was completely uncalled for. The situation could have been rectified respectfully without ruining our evening.
This experience left a sour taste in our mouths, and it’s safe to say it was our first and last visit to Joe's Crab Shack. The unpleasant encounter with the two waiters overshadowed the otherwise positive experience and, as such, I cannot recommend this restaurant. We ended up packing up our food and leaving. If you wish to maintain a positive day, I suggest steering clear...
Read moreWe've been regulars at this place for many years. Since our previous visit up until two days ago, (7/25/23) I guess it's under new management or something because we were very unsatisfied & disgusted with the service & moreso, the food. Reg flag🚩#1, no silverware or water was brought to the table, we had to ask for it. Red flag🚩#2, our waitress did not check on us periodically & we constantly had to ask another waitress for service. Reg flag🚩#3. I ordered a cup of coffee & it was strong as hell & cold. I wasn't given any sugar & cream & had to ask for it. Red flag🚩#4. When the waitress finally arrived with our food, we noticed that the serving sizes were smaller & the food did not quite look the same. (The Seafood Plater & The Fish & Chips) Red flag🚩#5. After tasting the food, french fries were cold & the batter on the coconut & popcorn shrimp was overcooked & hard. The coconut shrimp was mushy & raw on the inside & very undercooked. Red flag🚩#6. Ridiculous prices. Our bill total came out to $56 & some change. We probably didn't eat $5 worth of food because it was horrible & gross tasting. As much as we love this place, my husband & I will NOT be returning. I don't know what happened to the previous employers/employees, but it's definitely not the same. Bad service & food makes for bad business. WE ARE NOT...
