Based on an promotion on their Facebook page, I ordered some specially decorated donuts for Mother's Day. On the morning of, I pick up my order, asked the employee behind the counter to add a couple more from the display case, paid, and left without looking in the box. At home I open the box, and the "custom" special-order donuts are not at all what I ordered, just blank, generic, heart-shaped donuts, and to add insult to injury the donuts from the case were stale. Not a big deal, my wife calls and speaks to an employee to voice our disappointment. The employee apologized about the order being incorrect, and then adds that the other donuts were stale because they aren't made fresh every day and were probably 2-3 days old... so basically, I just paid $14 for an incorrect special-order and 2-3 day old, stale donuts. Bearing in mind that the ONLY reason I went here was because of the "special" Mother's Day donuts, (I can buy generic, 2-3 day old donuts for a fraction of the price from Winco) I contact the owner through Facebook. The owner has a terrible attitude, and ridiculously claims that my wife was "taking out her anger on their employee" when she simply called to express our frustration about the incorrect order. The owner then proceeds to deflect and make multiple excuses: "We were too busy, I had to make 8 or 9 deliveries myself" and "Your order must have been hiding in the back when we finalized decorating." and finally finishes the message with: "Hope that the lack of a couple letters missing from the top of a donut didn’t ruin your Mother’s Day."
I rarely write reviews, but in this case I made an exception. We used to rave about this shop and recommend it to our friends, but they have lost our business...
Read moreWhen death by donutz first came into town I loved them! They had the best donuts that were always soo fresh and a great selection!! I also was a huge fan of their biscuits and gravy always had to get some in the mornings on my way to work downtown! But now I'm really saddened with the new ownership and hope they close and find something more useful to put in that space. Now, when they are actually open it's very unsettling atmosphere to be in, the boss talks so poorly to his employees even in front of customers!! They sell old donuts and doesn't seem to make them fresh anymore. I'm uncomfortable to go in there and witness him belittling the unfortunate employees over what seems to be spilled milk. It's a shame that something that once was so great and fun is now going so downhil . Can we all agree to take Roxy dogs back over this backally donut shop? At least Roxy sold food that was fresh and...
Read moreThis might be one of my favorite donut place ever, and I don't live in Corvallis. The only time I go there is just to visit my friend so like at most 4 times a year, but every time I go to Corvallis I have to visit this place. This place donuts are just baked to perfection.
Its very simple yet its balanced perfectly. The dough is not flavorful but that is the reason why I love it so much, as it is just a perfect bun for the frosting on top. And not too much frosting, just a perfect balance.
The only complaint I have when it comes to place is the time hours. I don't know if this is often but when I arrived late like around 4 PM it was all out of stock, it was truly a sad moment for me. So I don't know when is ideal time to stay late but it shouldn't mind me for that much.
Overall love this place, and I want a place like this nearby Portland so I don't have to drive 1 hour...
