Food is pretty good. But: they're not consistent with their spice scale (ie sometimes a junior level spice tastes more milder than a freshman level spice).
EDIT: This could be due to them using fresh peppers/chilis to make their sauces... It can be hard to find a jar of chiles with ALL of the bulbs inside the jar to be at the same spice level. SO keep this in mind, I wouldn't be so hard on them for this.
Along with this, customer service is subpar, and it does not make up for the $2-3 you save by going here instead of a more quality restaurant such as Tarntip.
To be more specific about the customer service: ordering food on the phone proves to have more barriers than what is ideal in a typical food order/take out setting. This may be due to their small capacity and ability to only handle a few orders at a time. It feels like they've only been able to answer the phone less than half the time I've attempted to call. Employees seem friendly, but there's never an acknowledgement of all the barriers needed to navigate or patience practiced.
This may be an assumption, but this feels like they know can get away with "little things" like that because the restaurant is so popular and they know they won't lose...
Read moreI wouldn’t recommend this place even if it was the last and only restaurant in the world. As someone who’s worked at a Thai restaurant in Albany with authentic Thai food for two years this place makes me so disappointed. Tonight I decided to give it another try (was disappointed every time I’ve been, which has always been sparingly and not often) I took a risk and got curry. HUGE MISTAKE. This is said curry….. It’s literally CLEAR. curry is supposed to have coconut milk and have a way thicker consistency. I almost thought they gave me the wrong order because I’ve never seen curry look like this before. It also has no flavor and just tastes like fish oil and spice. I’m not being dramatic when I say this place is not worth your hard earned money. I should have known better after being utterly rendered speechless every time I eat here, but I am a slow learner… I can’t even get a refund because I live across town and I refuse to drive back over there or call for a meal replacement because I can’t give them the benefit of the doubt that it would actually...
Read moreWorst thai food of my life! I was expecting authentic thai or at least something that tastes good. The thai tea wasn’t made well, it was steeped too long, there was a granulated mouth feel when you sip the tea, which is likely leftovers tea leaves from when they were steeping. It tastes like it was just premade tea you could buy from a supermarket. The price was $3, so you’re paying for a worst quality tea. I got better quality thai tea from a thai food truck at The Barn! The mango sticky rice was probably the worst mango sticky rice i’ve ever had. It was just a cold ball of rice with coconut milk dumped all over it. The mangoes weren’t ripe, they were hard. Usually when you order mango sticky rice, it is warm sticky deliciousness with soft mangoes to complement it. I spent $10 for that mango sticky rice and it was definitely not worth it for the price. If you want an actual good thai experience, go to Big Sisters Thai Kitchen at The Barn, i highly recommend them, and you get a lot of bang...
