My wife sought out this intimate coffee shop due to their use of a locally sourced and family roasted beans from Bespoken Coffee Roasters. She also had been here once before. From the setting, to the coffee and the chat I had with Aidan, everything was top notch and very personable. Turns out the chocolate and caramel admittedly are both made by ownership for their establishment - and it shows. He provided us with a kids steamed hot chocolate at just the right temp for the kiddos, then proceeded to make my wife a decaf dark caramel mocha w/ coconut milk. I took the dark chocolate peppermint, as the mint was from a company I had never seen or heard of. Let me say it's easily the best coffee I've had in town, topping out typical visit to Allan Bros. our long time favorite. He proceeded to tell me they opened up a new location in Southtowne that we can hit more conveniently from Hwy 99 entering into town. The four drinks were carefully made and works of art 🤗 Clearly Aidan know what he's doing and truly cares to serve!
Another reviewer said the locale is what they considered to be snob coffee. I ask: by what definition would you make this statement? 🙄 How does a carefully crafted bean and drink come across in this manner? Yes, he treated us respectfully and probed to ensure we make the right choice. Did I want cow milk? Why, yes I did! I explained that coconut milk is too overpowering for my taste. You'll also get careful and considerate clientele, for sure, and less people wasting your space on laptops as you would find at a millennial sub-par establishment like Starbucks (which he also complained of, btw) Just because they can't cater to your every whim smaller menu doesn't mean they can't brew a stellar cup, and experience, as this fine man did at what will surely become a go-to staple...
Read moreIf you're looking for a solid illustration of why Oregon is such a white and unhappy state, look no further than Tried and True Coffee Company. I'm a person of color who has visited the coffee shop several times, and each time, I was met with unbelievably cold, aloof and intentionally unkind behavior, especially from the young man with the dark beard who tends to work on Mondays, and the young woman with the long, straight hair who also tends to work early in the week. They make sure to passive-aggressively emanate hatred and disapproval every time they see me.
Fortunately, the local people who order coffee before and after me are met with a chipper, "good morning!" and an overall friendly demeanor, and they get to pick up their coffee or snack with the same chill vibe and basic courtesy. How great. As for me, I'm met with a cold, vacant stare, and zero acknowledgement of what I have ordered. Their silence and negative energy speaks volumes. Then, when I pick up my coffee/pastry, the clerk drops my order as quickly as they can, and darts across the staff area to avoid me.
If you want to continue to breed hatred in your coffee shop, keep it up. You are doing great. While you're on break, you may want to read articles about how Oregon has the highest rate of depression in the United States at 25.20% and is the worst-ranked state for youth mental health in general.
Naturally, I am moving. And yes, I will be sure to confirm your racist and xenophobic behavior to all who ask. Regardless of your hatred, I send you my best wishes for you to reconnect with what is good inside of you, that you seem to...

Possibly the worst coffee I have had in years.
The place is relatively warm and inviting, despite some major feng shui energy blocking issues. People are nice, place is cute, but OMFG the coffee is just horrifically awful. I ordered the mild and it tasted like they mixed raw beans with fireplace ashes, wrapped them in old newspaper, stuffed them into a medium sized dried out road kill opossum, dowsed it with kerosene, lit it on fire and let it burn until totally black.... then scooped up those ashes, mixed them with dead frogs and maxwell house instant coffee and served it up.
That is how bad...
