When you can find consistency and any restaurant it's a good thing, and at Dorias Haus (German for house) of Pizza they have been just that for over 30 years which is the amount of time I've been dining at this wonderful mom and pop restaurant, since I was eight! I can't go a week without craving just a simple pepperoni black olive and cheese pizza oh, I almost forgot to mention there and tie pasta salad. the dressing that comes with the salad is so delicious I even add an extra side just so I can dip the crust of my pizza into it. The other humble selection of beers on tap and wine with sports playing on televisions mounted around the restaurant. The volume on the television set perfectly and low enough so you can still enjoy a conversation with the party you are eating with and catch the game if you so choose. they have weekday specials that you just can't beat the price on and the spaghetti and meatballs, which I believe might be Tuesday, is a wonderful day to go. The staff are very busy however they're still polite with smiles on their faces as they take your order. Rick's also a great guy, used to raise Corvettes and took over for his father. He's doing a wonderful job keeping the same recipes the same style cooking for decades now. Happens to be a neighbor of mine :-) I don't know if any of the reviewers remember his first wife Michelle with beautiful blonde hair braided down to the back of her knees even. well she hasn't been there for quite some time now but the place hasn't really changed much which is something I appreciate. I've taken my family there so many times as well as new friends. And while the inside looks more like a hole in the wall, not Rick's fault, they're always surprised with wide eyes is they take their first bite from this wonderful restaurant. This has to be my top three places for pizza. I would venture out and try more of the menu however, sometimes you have restaurants in your repertoire of options and you go there mainly for one thing or a few things and by the time you get there while you might want to try different things on the menu you just can't get away from that one dish that knocks it out of the park every time. They also have a house special pizza that is and everything Pizza, so if you like little bit more complicated with lots of goodies it's something I'd recommend as well. I hope I die before this place ever changes LOL. Thank you Rick and all the staff to making this one of if not my most favorite pizzeria of all time. I've been to round three times and I still think about "Haus" place. I was tempted to put four stars just because of the furniture all that however in my book I don't care, it's worth a weekly visit to satisfy my cravings for pizza and salad! One last thing, you don't have to try to eat the whole thing there because putting them in a ziplock baggie in the refrigerator and heating at 350° for another 8-10 minutes makes it a wonderful leftover dish for those...
Read moreDora's House of Pizza is definitely my favorite pizzeria on the West coast, and everytime I am in California I make it a point to drop in and have a bite or seven. I cannot emphasize enough how delicious the pizza is and how much I love this place.
I have a friend that lives about a quarter mile away from Dora's and we always go together. The staff has always treated us right, and the owner is one of the most upright and hard-working guys I have ever met. The rest of the staff lives up to this moniker as well.
If you miss old school pizzerias that serve pizza with the toppings that are so fresh that they will slide off slice because the sauce is that good, this is your place. They have all sorts of memorabilia on the wall, and it has plush booths. It looks like a slice out of 1984, and to me, if I die and there is no Doria's, I will know that I am in the wrong place.
The pizza is made like it used to be, and it is 20 times better than anything that you will order from any of the chains. The whole menu is reasonably priced, and I defy anyone to find one item that is not out of this world. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and what you get is well worth it.
I found this restaurant because a group of friends took me there after church a few years ago, and I have consistently returned for the last 15 years. I encourage everyone to go there and to bring as many friends and family as they can possibly fit in their car.
I cannot recommend it enough oh, and no review will truly do it justice. Doria's House of Pizza must be...
Read more35 YEARS IVE BEEN A CUSTOMER TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE !!!!!!!!!BEWARE THE FOOD QUALITY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE AT THE COSTA MESA HAUS PIZZA HAS TAKEN A NOSE DIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!....THE MANAGEMENT IS MOST LIKELY TO BLAME WHICH IS A SHAME......... My family has been frequenting Haus Pizza for over 34 years essentially since they 1st opened their doors. The past few times we have ordered food to go it was completely unacceptable the conditions of the food. More than once making mistakes on our order. This past weekend I finally called them back to get resolution to a problem with my order. Despite sending pictures of the poor condition of the food and clearly lack of care in the preparation of our oder, I was told by the manager that is was my own fault. The pizza had little to no topping or cheese on half of the pizza which was not due to anything but failure by their kitchen staff . The manager tried to explain it off that it probably shifted during transport. How does cheese and toppings shift without pepperoni moving also. Clearly the preparation was done without care or consideration of their customers. To be told that it's my fault is unacceptable. They definitely have not only poor service and low quality products but a blatant disregard for customers who have been long time patrons. IF YOU WANT POOR QUALITY FOOD AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE CHOOSE HAUS OF PIZZA WHERE THE MANAGEMENT BLAMES THE CUSTOMER FOR THE LOW STANDARDS YOU CAN EXPECT FROM AN EXPERIENCE EATING AT HAUS...
