Georgia’s Original Bun & Burger is a hidden gem. If you are looking for a flash back to the past in regard to atmosphere, quality and service, this is a great choice. Located on the corner of Rowland and Shopper’s Lane, it has been able to retain the original feel and look while being very clean and not looking outdated or old. There are record sleeves covering from the early 50s to the late 80s decorating the walls and while they have music playing, not only did we have no problem hearing each other, we did not have to talk above either the other patron’s conversations or the music. This is a “mom and pop” diner, so most of the menu dishes run between $10 and $15 but are still a value due to the quality of the ingredients and the sizes of the meals. I had the Hot Turkey Sandwich, which consisted of several slices of roasted turkey breast over 2 slices of white bread with homemade mashed potatoes all covered with turkey gravy. The potatoes texture was very refreshing because it is primarily creamy but there were still some small pieces of potato as well as a couple actual chunks. There was also a side of jellied cranberry sauce, which I had them hold as I do not personally like it. My friend had the salad and half BLT sandwich. The salad was fresh because all the ingredients were crisp, chilled and fresh tasting. She had the choice of bread and toasted or not. The bacon was cooked to the point where is was crispy with the fat rendered properly without crumpling after taking a bite. The bathrooms are still gender specific, and since I didn’t need to use them, I forgot the look inside but am willing to say they most likely are clean as stocked due to the appearance of the rest...

Great local diner, great food.....with more.

#1 Tony the regular, recently divorced kind father and appreciated by all staff.

#2 An Homage to the past...a wall plaque of Coach Art Mazmanian (longtime Dorsey High Coach, bon vivant, church patron, talent scout and table/office patron).

#3 A friday night collection of family, kids, end of week dining couples and new to the area soaking-it-all-in guests like me.

#4 The Cuban Waitress, Miele (Honey)...slim, beautiful, easy to smile, light on her toes and a collector of large tips from appreciative patrons for obvious reasons.

#5 The been-there done-that waitress who looks you in the eyes, has a warm smile, hearing like an alert hunter and looking forward to settling in at home.

#6 The easy in the eyes, warm with a heart of gold.....but no-fools-suffered Owner. (Georgia) Stiff from back pain, business pressure, dying off customers and employee shenanigans.

#7 The Beautiful, thoughtful, scattered, contemplating, thorough and conscientious Elizabeth (Call me Liz). Daughter of the owner, mother, who works from home and comes to the restaurant for Adult People time and getting some movement.

I could have stayed for hours, just interacting with all these people...but needed to carry on.

Oh...the bathrooms are MUCH NICER than old world deli.

Great food, great pie,...

We expected a bit more... The place is located in an awesome spot: there is tons of parking and it is easy to see passing by the street. There was a 25 min wait for dine in or no wait but eating at the counter. We took the counter, and it was good. Prices are around $12 for a basic breakfast, around $3 for a beverage. The atmosphere feels like a 90s lunch restaurant but slightly dirtier. Atmosphere is mostly dominated by older audiences, so personally if you are young, you will feel different here… I ordered a chicken sandwich and a steak. Customer service was alright, did not feel the "welcome" vibe: felt that they were rushing us with the order (it was our first time visiting). The chicken sandwich was disappointing, considering it is around $15.50 with tax. It was small, and the chicken tasted average. The potato salad was alright too. However, the steak was good: well cooked and full of flavor. Prices are slightly higher compared to other places such as I hop or Dennys. In conclusion, it felt just like a normal breakfast restaurant… but just in a smaller building. Recommended to reserve or be patient...
