My kids & I met up with their dad for dinner here last Sunday (6/22/25), but we were underwhelmed and unimpressed. They weren't super busy in terms of diners dining in, but they made mistakes as if they were swamped. The table next to us had a sizable group - maybe 5 adults and a baby - and whatever was ordered, the staff screwed up. They kept apologizing and saying they didn't know how it could've happened. Smh.

When I arrived with my kids, their dad was there waiting and had apparently ordered a lemonade and was given a cup of Kool aid. Now, that's different, but cool, if the Kool aid is good. It wasn't. The "hostess" realized her mistake some time after we arrived and eventually brought him a can of Sprite. We received our water after the food order was taken, and that was approximately 20 minutes into being seated. Even then, the hostess came to ask if that's what we wanted. Duh. When the food arrived, the waitress, who took our order, took our food to the family next to us. They, of course, told her it wasn't theirs and she brought it over to us and asked if it was ours. Eye roll How do you not know who ordered what? Also, on the menu, it says smoked ribs are available "Sat-Sun only", but the waitress said "only on Saturdays".

We ordered 2 fried pork chop plates and a fried wings plate w/green beans and fries for the kids. The fries came out approx 10 minutes after everything else. I had to ask about those. The flour was obviously seasoned, but the pork chops themselves were not. They were tasteless. I ate my greens, though they were a few shakes away from being over seasoned. I tried the Mac & cheese, but no, it wasn't for me. Everybody makes theirs differently. I didn't look or taste like any made from scratch. My kids ate the green beans and the chicken wings, which I tasted, and those were okay. I had to inform the waitress that we were ready for the check after sitting for some time; she didn't check on us like one would expect at a restaurant. No more Sundays. Maybe another day and only for wings, maybe.

The atmosphere was cool. They had ESPN on the TVs, so it's something like an upscale or luxury sports bar based on the decor. A little taste of what one might expect and...

So, I've been to this place twice now.

1st visit - on a Sunday, we ordered food to go. Fried chicken, fried pork chops, mac & cheese and greens. We got home tasted the food and was really happy and eager to visit again. We even told others and invited them to join us on our next visit.

2nd visit - on a Saturday night, 2 of ordered fried chicken and the other 2 ordered fried fish and okra. Oh yeah, btw no soul food on Saturday and no, I didnt know that and that may be my fault. But anyways, they brought out 2 meals, with one being, so that was taken back. Then 20-30 minutes later, after we had waited for over 30 minutes already, they brought out the corrected one and the other fish basket and guess what, after waiting about about 90 minutes, watching them serve people before and after me, I decided to go ask about my food. A lady met me and handed me my food. And guess what, the chicken was cold but the fries were hot and fresh. No one said anything, no apology or nothing. Let me just say, I was very dissatisfied with Saturday night and dint think that I will choose this place again on a Saturday night or any other night for food. However, even though the chicken was cold, it still tasted good. And just know, I will be coming back for soul food.

But to the owners of this establishment, please do better and from a customer stand point, please work on your customer...

This was my first meal in Georgia and still the best one I had there so far. It felt incredibly random to go to a sports bar for soul food at noon in the middle of this small town but I’m glad we came here.

I would say this was better than Mary Mac’s Tea Room.

🐔 Baked Chicken ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Maybe I just like Baked chicken more but this was way more enjoyable than eating Fried Chicken at Mary Mac’s.

🌱 Fried Okra ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Flavorful and Crispy the entire time we ate here. Never once lost its flavor or crisp throughout the meal. Best ones I’ve had yet

🫛 Green Beans ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Compared to Mary Mac’s, this was much more flavorful.

There were other sides that came with our meal that were quite good as well. I have no clue what that pancake looking thing they gave us was but I really liked it.

Price...
