Can Starbucks corporate PLEASE explain to me why it takes baristas more than FIVE minutes to craft the average beverage nowadays? Doesn't sound that bad, but that's more than 20 minutes for a coffee IF I'm only one of four customers in line, which -lets be honest- is rare. Also, why is it so difficult to get a consistent order? The only way to improve accuracy is to be that obnoxious customer who walks the barista through the entire process, and even then, it's not a guarantee.
Starbucks used to be DEPENDABLE which is why I didn't mind spending $4 for a latte vs. the sewer water at Dunkin Donuts. But, now my go-to drink has a fancy new name and is almost SEVEN DOLLARS yet it still can't guarantee consistency.
One MASSIVE issue is that Baristas aren't being taught the golden rule of coffee-making. OXYGEN IS BAD FOR COFFEE! Espresso shots should ALWAYS be pulled from the machine DIRECTLY into milk or cream (or whatever the base of the beverage is), but for some reason, that's not how baristas are trained to pull them. This keeps it from turning bitter (which only takes seconds)! I constantly watch baristas not only pull shot after shot into an empty pitcher and walk away, leaving it there to go bitter in the air for several minutes or more, but then finally to return and swirl it around in the empty pitcher before adding it to the drink.
Don't believe me? Pull 2 espresso shots from the machine. Taste the 2nd shot and you'll notice a natural sweetness. After about 30 seconds, taste the first that It will be incredibly bitter in comparison. Pulling shots directly into milk, cream or other non-dairy bases help to maintain the espresso's natural sweetness. Why this isn't taught at Starbucks I will NEVER understand, but it would DRASTICALLY improve the quality of most beverages.
As far as the amount of time it can take to get an order, that's a whole new story. I just wish $7 could guarantee a bit more consistency to my...
Read moreHaving to unfortunately update my review: Went to this Starbucks a couple of days ago and while waiting on the order, I noticed one of the employees openly coughing in her sleeve and then wiping her nose. She then proceeded to make herself a Venti specialty drink and then continued to make orders, while coughing and wiping her nose. She then proceeded to touch the milk frother, cup tops and other drink utensils after wiping her nose. After seeing this, my friend and I asked for a refund and spoke to the manager to let the manager know about the employee. We couldnt confirm if this individual was the manager because no one seemed to know who was in charge. The individual who came up as the "Manager" seemed irriated and didn't make eye contact when giving back the refund. There are too many illnesses going around for employees to be openly coughing and wiping their noses while prepping food or drinks. It was also troubling to see the employee also making a Venti specialty drink for herself while the line was super long and the whole store was filled with people waiting on orders. The other employees were working nonstop to complete orders and this employee kept drinking her drink and slowly completing drink orders.
While the staff who helped my friend and I were kind, the "manager" was not and from now on I will be heading inside vs. drive thru if going to this Starbucks to ensure my drinks are being made with hygiene in mind. ‐------------------------------------------------------------------ 8 months ago Great Starbucks location! The employees wore full protective masks and gloves and were all very kind! The Frappuccinos I ordered were nicely made and a great portion. Can't wait to return! Keep up...
Read moreI placed a Door Dash order for a caffe mocha and cheese Danish. When my order arrived the bag contained a caramel frappuccino instead of a cafe mocha. I double checked my receipt to make sure I didn't accidentally order the wrong drink myself and it was right. Since my name was written on the outside of the sealed bag it was clear that it was Starbucks's mistake. I've never had an issue with any orders in the past so I wasn't sure what steps to take so I called the Starbucks store I ordered from. Now it wasn't a really big deal to me as I understand accidents happen but what bothered me was the fact that when I explained to the person who answered the phone that my doordash order was wrong the young lady stated that the dasher grabbed the wrong bag and then put the manager on the phone who did apologize but stated the same thing... the dasher grabbed the wrong bag and that I needed to contact door dash. As I stated earlier my name was written on the outside of the sealed bag so the driver did indeed grab the correct bag. It was just that Starbucks's had put the wrong drink in the bag. I got the situation straighten out through Door Dash but I think that since it was Starbucks mistake they should have corrected it. And for them to blame the doordash driver when it was clearly their error...
