We went to one of our favorites, Libby's Southern Comfort restaurant, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish. As soon as I walked in, I was struck by the clean and inviting atmosphere, complemented by charming decor that set the tone for a memorable meal.
To kick off my meal, I opted for the Goetta Hushpuppies, and they were an absolute hit. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these little bites were bursting with flavor. They were the perfect precursor to what was to come.
The Buttermilk Chicken Biscuit that followed was nothing short of phenomenal. The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned, sandwiched between a biscuit that was flaky and heavenly. Each bite was a burst of Southern comfort in my mouth.
Moving on to the burgers, they were truly a class apart. Cooked to perfection, they were juicy, flavorful, and topped with fresh ingredients that elevated them to a whole new level. Libby's certainly knows how to do burgers like none other.
To wash it all down, I indulged in the Bourbon Slush, which was a revelation. It was the perfect blend of sweet and tangy, mixed with bourbon in just the right proportions. It was a delightful accompaniment to the meal.
Finished with the pumpkin cheesecake. It was bursting with flavors and creamy finish.
One of the standout features of Libby's Southern Comfort is their great outdoor dining area. The spacious setup, complete with nice ceiling fans, creates a comfortable and enjoyable environment for al fresco dining. It's the ideal place to savor your meal on a pleasant day.
Lastly, I must commend the excellent service I received during my visit. The staff was not only attentive but also incredibly friendly, adding to the overall warmth of the experience.
In conclusion, Libby's Southern Comfort is a gem of a restaurant that combines a clean and inviting ambiance with outstanding food and exceptional service. Whether you're in the mood for Southern classics or a perfect burger, this place has it all. I can't wait to return to try more of their...
Read moreVisited on a Saturday around dinner time. Busy but not slammed. No wait for a 2 top table. Server was great! Checked back often but was not pushy or made us feel rushed at all. Drinks: Cherrwine Bourbon Slush FTW! This is a great cocktail. Appetizer: Goetta Hush Puppies - The reason we came. Weird texture; I'm sure from the combo. Not off putting, just different from expectations. I was expecting typical, light brown southern hush puppies with a little goetta. They were dark, almost burnt and tasted that way. No goetta flavor, no light batter... Very disappointing. 1/10. The remoulade sauce was great but couldn't save them. Food: Hot Honey chicken sandwich was great! Very crispy and juicy...not an easy combo. Hot Honey sauce was perfect..slight heat, sweet and not too much of it to be over powering! Bun was perfectly toasted! 10/10 would order again. Cole Slaw (on the side). Not sure if it was homemade or food service, but great flavor, not overly dry or moist. Nearly a perfect slaw. Picked onions were STRONG! (I'm not a fan of picked onions in general so....) Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Where's the garlic? Very little flavor of any kind in this scoop of mashed potatoes. Ordinary and plain. Nothing wrong but nothing to write home about. 3/10 Willy Burger. Great flavor, albeit very dry. Smoky undertones. Hate to ruin the flavor with a condiment, but was necessary due to dryness. 6/10 = Would be higher but can you say DRY! Southern Mac n Cheese. Better than the mashed potatoes. Good flavor, gooey cheese. 8/10 Overall, 4 cocktails ($40 - not bad at all!) , 2 sandwiches and an appetizer ($57).... Total: $97 pre tip. (don't forget the 3% credit card fee! I mean, come on! Yes it is clearly on the menu but who honestly goes out with that much cash for a meal these days!?) So $100 and $10 to park in the lot across the street. Wasn't busy and no close on street or free parking (maybe there is but not familiar enough with the area to know). $130 meal that wasn't impressive or anything...
Read moreA small southern gem in the shadow of a big city diamond. First, since it is Covington, parking is what it is depending on the time of day. After a meal here, you'll appreciate walking a block if you have to, since the portions are heavy. The inconspicuous entrance lends to a comfortable non-grand entrance feel. As soon as you get in the door, you'll be noticed right off the bat, since it's a small space. You can sit at the bar or a table if one's available. The bar is very attractive with it's live-edge wood and if you can't find something to drink here, you don't need to be going out. There is a decent collection of craft brews including Country Boy and a nice variety of bourbon.
Service was fast and personable. The menu isn't too busy. The goetta hushpuppies were in my mouth about 4 minutes after ordering and were delicious. The fried chicken was in my mouth shortly thereafter. Let's talk about that. Golden, crispy, and juicy. The batter wasn't overly seasoned; perfect for a hot sauce addition. Don't feel bad using your hands. I started off with a fork to keep clean, but turned cave man so I could get some of that crispy batter in each bite. I've eaten a lot of fried chicken, and this ranks up there with the best. The 2 piece meal came with green beans, fries, and a biscuit, but there are other sides. Let me tell you about the fries. They're like a marriage between a french fry, a home fry, and spoon. The shape invites itself to be used as a ketchup or a hushpuppy sauce spoon. Perfectly crispy and hot with no inter-fry zone mushiness. I'd go back for the fries alone. The biscuit was a biscuit and could be improved upon with regard to texture, but it was decent. My father had a fish sandwich and I wanted to grab it off his plate because the presentation was phenomenal. He said it was good, so I'll take him on his word.
All in all, Libby's is a solid establishment with solid go-to comfort in the form of drink, food,...
