I'm not 100% sure what to make of this place honestly, but in a very very good way.
The only times I've been here have been for events, most recently a wedding. They have 2 floors and they couldn't be more different. The top floor is reminiscent of the old church that now houses the gallery. more laid back, softer artwork on the walls. Hard wood floors, the old pipe organ pipes in the back, and the stained glass windows up front. They even have the old confessionals there! Although it is a bit weird as they've been converted into bathrooms, and theirs a DJ booth on top, but still cool!
Downstairs has that more eclectic funky vibe. Theirs a lounge area up a set of stairs behind the bar, and a few tables and couches spread throughout the space. Again, another DJ booth set up above the crowd and above the restrooms, but this ones not as noticeable. There's also a pretty decently stocked bar on the first floor. It's darker and feels a little more hip/artsy/edgy with more of that modern art vibe.
The art, including the furniture, is all for sale, and there's a little something for everyone. There's no real parking, so that's kind of a pain, but they have events going on every week! It's definitely worth a stop if you're down on...
Read moreWe used this venue for our wedding. I must say it was 100% worth it. Richard was so accommodating and even did a lot of organization and legwork. The staff was kind and sociable and went above and beyond.
My wife has a service dog, and one of the bartenders even brought a small pail of water upstairs for the dog to have some water during the reception dinner. Just one example of the extra mile that they took for our event.
The stained glass upstairs is amazing, and cast a beautiful light throughout the ceremony. We were able to time it where the sunlight was directly coming through the windows.
For the reception, all the sound and mic equipment was already present, we only had to bring a laptop with playlists and our own DJ which was just a friend of the family. Richard worked with him to get him set up on the equipment and everything worked just fine.
Honestly I can not recommend this place enough. It's less traditional, but creates such a fun atmosphere and everyone had a...
Read moreWe had the most magical wedding day yesterday at Leapin Lizard! Richard was incredibly helpful in the planning process, answering all of our questions along the way. Becca and Sam managed the day, and they were phenomenal. They were kind and attentive, and they went above and beyond- helping to set up and clean up the day, provide top-notch bar tending, and even offered to open up the building the day before so we could drop off decorations. And the space itself is unbeatable. We were able to have the whole wedding day here (getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dance party) at an affordable price. Leapin Lizard is the epitome of the character that Covington has to offer- beautiful, full of color and fun, traditional with a twist, and a place with amazingly...
