I'm not sure if we came on an off night or just had a wildly different experience than other reviewers. When we walked in the place was completely empty, no guests and no bartender to be seen. Eventually someone came down from upstairs and told us they were filling in. There was a very tiny menu available but no other guidance on what to drink or what is recommended just told you order what we normally would at a bar- I was really hoping a place with interesting vintage bottles would have interesting vintage cocktails to go with but maybe I've missed the point of this place. We started with a cocktail in the downstairs bar and then went upstairs where the vintage tasting occurs. It was interesting to see all the bottles available. When we tried to taste the bartender seemed much more interested in talking to and helping a coworker who was there to drink in off hours but not in letting us try much unless we interrupted his soliloquies or conversations with the coworker. I was hoping to taste 10-12 different things they had but it was just so uncomfortable and I couldn't interrupt the guy to have more than 3. He seemed to care less about why or even that we were there. It seems like the kind of place you would be well served and enjoy if you are an old white man but I guess I didn't fit the bill to be taken seriously. The bartender upstairs was even complaining about how slow January was going to be and I have to laugh bc if their service and lack of menu is always like this then I'm not sure how they're ever not slow. 2/10 would not come back. This place has potential on paper but was seriously lacking substance. We ended up leaving for the bar in the hotel next door that had a much better atmosphere, service and experience overall that I was really not expecting from...
Read moreIf youâre hunting for a dusty bottle that transports you back in history with a single sip then this is your place. Revival has vintage bottles you wonât find at your average bourbon bar in a welcoming environment with reasonable prices. The bartenders, especially Millie, are a wealth of knowledge and all around fantastic human beings. Revival has quickly become one of my favorite places.
Tips: There is a parking lot directly next to the shop with free parking after 6pm Revival is a tasting room and bottle shop with four stools at their bar. Max volume is 2oz per person. I recommend trying 4 different bourbons with half oz pours each. They have a fun selection of old decanters filled with Jim Beam that make for great conversation pieces on any home bar. (Tax strips intact) They close at 9pm, start your night here and be sure to give yourself enough time to meander the bottles and decanters while enjoying your...
Read moreI LOVE this place! Stopped in to grab a drink at the bar and experienced the Canadian Lights cocktail. It was seriously one THE BEST old-fashioneds I have had. Prepared with Canadian Whiskey and pure maple syrup and a surprise ingredient, it made my taste buds do a boogie. Cocktail in hand, I walked upstairs to check out their spirit shop. It was such a cool space with vintage bottles, dating as far back as a century. If bottles could talk, I wonder what story they would tell. So interesting. I ended my trip at the tasting station. You can actually do 1/4 oz pours at affordable prices. This allows you to explore several varieties of spirits, without hurting your pocketbook. The owner Bob, was so cool and knowledgable. He encouraged me to try scotch for the first time. Now I am on a quest to learn more.
Shout out to Bob and staff. My trip was fun and memorable. I plan to return soon and...
