My family has been going to Aladdin’s for quite a few years now. I’m fairly new to this particular location, but I’ve had a consistently excellent experience (though thus far, I’ve only gotten takeout). As with their other stores that I’ve tried around Pittsburgh, they’ve consistently had delicious yet significantly healthier-than-average food. Their smoothies are some of my favorite beverages, and a substantial portion of my budget goes to bubble tea and other sweet delights. Their vegetarian chili is delicious, and makes for a great meal alongside one of their Rolled (basically, wraps, which are reasonably-sized but not huge). The Jasmine’s Favorite - the single healthiest comfort food that comes to mind - is especially good with Lebanese Salata. (I’m no longer vegetarian, but I’ve never been tempted to try one of the other (meatier) toppings, because the Lebanese Salata just goes with it really, really well, and provides a nice balance.) Their hummus is distinctive, and I prefer it to most other hummuses I’ve made or bought. The Pita Pitzas are fun and, similar to the Rolled, are not terribly large entrees (since the pita is pretty thin compared to pizza crust), so they go well with soup as well. The other appetizers are also really good, and even ones which wouldn’t ordinarily sound like things I would like are really good. (E.g. green beans are not particular favorites of mine, and at some point I just had way too many lentils, but the appetizer dishes that feature them are really good.) The staff have also all been great in my interactions with them.
Give them a try if you haven’t, and go back if you have. Seriously. I could be at home eating their takeout for dinner right now, but I decided to take a few minutes to recommend them because they’re just that good. (And because the staff were extra nice and understanding when I was late picking up my online order because I was held up at work.)
Also, apparently there is/was some kind of local musical showcase in (I believe) the same plaza the store is located, which is cool. Probably more in the summertime, but hey, something to...
Read moreIt’s simply a place I will never set foot again! I’m new in this area and a friend highly recommended it, while another group of three unanimously said it wasn't worth it. Well, I decided to give it a try and form my own opinion, anyways. I ordered a sfiha, which, to my disappointment, is nothing more than a pita bread wrap. The best thing about a real sfiha is its homemade dough prepared and baked. The ground beef of the stuffing was completely black and burnt, with no flavor of seasoning or addition of another ingredient. This for almost $9. Unrealistic price, compared any other places! When I picked up the sfiha on Saturday, I noticed beautiful cakes in the window, which made me want to go back on Sunday, thinking that it might be worth giving it another chance. Exactly the same cakes were there (who knows since when, how old they were!). I ordered a piece of chocolate pie. The attendant didn't even ask me whether it was to here or to go, handed me a bag with a big container and a piece of pie, which I swear to God, was no more than 1.5 inches thick, for which I paid $6.36. When I laid eyes on that miserable and outrageous piece, I started to laugh in astonishment, I felt affronted, I didn't hesitate and politely said that I didn't want any more, because it was too expensive, for such a miserable piece. They promptly refunded the money and so it was definitely my last time to set foot there. A place of abusive prices, for miserable portions, in addition to denoting minimal notion of how to manage a business with intelligence, in order to retain the customer. The chocolate pie had certainly been there for a good few days, after that it certainly went to the trash (I hope they are not so greedy as to leave an old product exposed, to try to deceive customers until they have no choice but to be thrown away). What a...
Read moreI enjoy Aladdin’s Eatery and have dined here often—the food is always good. I like the menu a lot and the atmosphere is nice. I think that management appears to hire based on personality as the servers are typically friendly and pleasant. Today the server was kind and efficient. He had a busy dining room at one point and was the only employee attending to the guests.
I do have to question the quality of training that takes place here with some of the soft skills. There is one person at the counter who seats guests who slaps the menus on the table barely speaks. Perhaps she could help with drink orders when the dining room is busy? The bus person slams dishes so loudly I’m surprised the kitchen isn’t full of cracked and broken dishes. I might not normally notice this but since they seated everyone along the same wall at one time, I couldn’t help but notice. Some of us would still appreciate a little distancing.
There is one item I order regularly that seldom comes out at a good temperature—is kitchen staff trained on serving temperatures? I almost feel like I need to give the server a heads up to make sure my food comes out hot (not warm or cold).
I realize everyone has staffing issues but as another reviewer noted, it seems they don’t really care here anymore. I am giving three stars as I don’t want to hurt their business but I wish they would take my...
