Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Crawfordsville

The service at this facility is terrible. We had some baseball players and parents come in to eat. There were approx 22-23 of us total. We asked for separate checks by baseball player number. Our waitress totally ignored our request. Said it wouldn't be a problem if she did it all together. We only had an hour to eat before we had to head out to our next game. Waitress took order from the boys table separate from the parents table. Waitress spilled water and a pop at the parents table -- took a good 5 minutes to clean that up. No one helped her. two of the parents helped clean up the table. Took 15 minutes after we walked in to place our order. After another 30 minutes, we still had no food or shakes yet at the parents table. The players were just starting to get their food. Since we were cruched for time, was asked for the bill so that we could start paying for our food (even though 1/2 of us hadn't gotten anything yet). The waitress pulled 3 tickets down from the order window and just handed them to us. We had to try and figure out who had ordered what on our own. We never had a ticket listing the shakes that had been ordered. After 5 minutes of trying to figure this mess out -- we decided to do to the cash register -- and let the "acting manager" assist us in getting our bill paid. We were still waiting for food and shakes. After another 5-10 minutes, it was clear that she had no idea how to separate the checks. Us parents all just started going up and telling the "acting supervisor or manager" what we had ordered. We had no bills, just knew what we had ordered and what the kids had ordered. Around this piont, some of the parents shakes were coming out. Asked our waitress for take out cups to pour them into. She said she'd get them right way -- never came out. After waiting 5 more minutes, I finally asked at the cash register for take out cups. Finally got the. Most of us still had no food -- and at that point they start telling the cooks to make the orders take out. I finally get up to pay (mind you there were 7 of us and it took at least 15 minutes for us to pay) At this point, we were VERY late for leaving.... My turkey club sandwich showed up in a take out container just as I came up to pay for my sons and my order. I was ready to tell them to keep it ... but I paid for my order as I just wanted to get out of there and get going to the game. On the way the game, it hit me that I was just charged $31.xx for a Western BBQ Buger, a Turkey Club Sandwich, and 2 shakes (and it was suppose to be happy hour - shakes were suppose to be half price). I checked -- I wasn't given a receipt when I paid. I stopped back after the game to see if I could possible get a refund for being overcharged. I was told (by the same person who cashed me out) that I couldn't get a refund without a receipt. If I wanted to I could talk to their manager on a different day and he could probably look up my order. I was only there for the day. This place as absolutely Terrible as far as service. I was so disgusted with the service and overcharging that I have absolute no intention of going to any...

This restaurant was self service at the time me and my party dined here. I wasn't aware before hand but you had to use the kiosk to order and only accepted credit payment at the kiosk. After we were almost done ordering a woman came up and asked if we were getting everything alright. We got our ticket and sat down then realized we needed the ticket to scan to get our own drinks. We had ordered shakes, and had to wait several minutes before someone brought them to the drink section. We waited a very long time to actually get the food and drinks. The workers did not actually make them until we went up to the drink counter and said we had ordered shakes. The tables and floors were unkept and for the price ($40 for 2 adults and 1 child) it was definitely not worth it. I felt like I should have made money visiting this restaurant due to having to do all of the work myself. The shakes were given in a glass cup which it would have been better in a to go cup so I didn't have to drink it all before leaving. There were at least 5-6 people working that I seen yet every job there I had to do myself 🤔. Definitely won't be back unless they decide to lower prices or bring back the actual dine in experience, as this is way too expensive and not good enough quality for self...

Arrived at 10:50pm. They were short staffed with one waitress crying to every customer how she had been there for 11 hours and should've been off 3 hours prior. This waitress also tried to avoid seating us by telling us every table except one small booth was dirty or occupied instead of just quickly wiping down a booth for us. No refills on drinks were ever received nor were we checked on. The waitress then came over and said, "I guess I'll just take your order" with a completely bitchy attitude and then complained more that she wasn't even supposed to be there still. A huge party ahead of us still hadn't received their food nor refills. Our waitress left without a word to anyone leaving it to only a manager and a cook. We caught the attention of the manager and asked to pay for our drinks so we could leave. She comped our drinks and apologized but was completely flustered. This is on par for this location. The service is never good, the wait is always long, and the food (if you manage to get any) is hit or miss. Avoid at all costs. We went to Arby's instead and despite it being 11:30pm we got hot, fresh food in...
