I'm in town on business for the year and have eaten here 100 times (it was the only place open overnight until Apple Peddler started in May). The only 2 servers I had were Autum and Dennis. Well, except for the managers helping out that is. Here's the deal with this particular location: It's Denny's, so the menu is controlled by corporate. It does change quite often so that's always been a plus about them. However, this is the first one I've been to that charges for absolutely every single little thing you ask for. Examples; I asked for pickles on my chicken sandwich - 80 cents. Side of ranch - .80. Toast with my oatmeal - $1.99 instead of .99 as it is with breakfast items. And the kicker...I ordered one of the $8 meals which includes your drink and was charged for the drink additionally because I asked for a glass of ice separate from the glass of diet coke!! Dennis's reasoning? I used 2 glasses and the deal is for one. Haha! Wow! Also, if you substitute your side with cottage cheese, you literally get a tiny condiment dish full..which is no more than 2 spoonfuls. As for service, Dennis is smug and never in a good mood and will tell you he doesn't care. Autum on the other hand is always smiling and taking care of customers. Now here's my issue with all of this - I am (was) a regular. 4-5 nights a week for 4 months. I'm always courteous and tip very well and still had to deal with price additions for the littlest of things. I was in the food business for many years and understand the importance of taking care of your regulars, so I'm baffled by this place. Enough ranting so I guess I can move on to the basics...it's Denny's, so the food is what it is. The value is not there but that's with most places. I haven't eaten here during the day so I can't comment on the service that most of you will probably receive. If you're up past midnight and looking for something to eat, you'll either eat here or Apple Peddler - which has a much...
Read moreI used to love Denny's and whenever I visit other areas they're typically good. This is the worst Denny's location! It is probably independently owned and that probably gives the ability for them to change the menu and also not honor certain deals. Last time we had tried this location was YEARS ago and it was bad then but my daughter wanted to go so we decided to give it a try again. The hostess who seated us was extremely nice and was probably the most pleasant part of our whole experience here (she's the only reason I rated service 3 stars). We ordered and it wasn't that horrible of a wait considering the time (noon/lunch time) and flies buzzing around the table, but when our appetizer came out there was a frozen cold French fry that came with it ( it even got seasoned lol) and after the waitress told the cook about it he said "guess it's another one of those Denny's mysteries". Hm. First and only location I've heard that as an excuse and I'm curious to know what other mysteries happen in that kitchen. The mozzarella sticks were semi cold in the middle also and it kinda made the whole appetizer very unappetizing. They don't have French fries available for kids meals and the hash browns she had to get were extremely greasy. The bread on the sandwich I ordered was very greasy as well and in the end it definitely wasn't good or worth the price they charge. Especially with other (way better) options nearby. Will not be returning ever and a quick heads up/word of caution: they nickle and dime you for everything and don't honor...
Read moreThis Dennieâs has a sign on the front door that says, âNo private restrooms.â I didnât know if that applied to customers or if I just had to wait until I left to pee. They have one waitress. When I arrived an impatient guest requested a milkshake to go because he was impatient with her snailâs pace. That is actually unfair to snails. Another table wasnât ready to order. I told her I was ready to order. She said, âAnother table is ahead of you.â This was one of the least coherent statements I have ever heard. So passive aggressive. She makes the character Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter seem friendly. When she finally deigned to take my order 20 minutes after I arrived, I asked ,âWhat is the soup of the day?â She said, âSoup and salad are no longer free sides.â I said, âI didnât ask whether they were free or not, it clearly says on the menu that I pay for them. I simply asked what the soup of day was. She made a face, with her facial piercings it was scary. Then she got the order for a nearby table wrong. She kept saying she was busy even though she worked at a glacial pace. I would have left, but after 9:00 PM in Crescent City there are no other options. The steak wasnât very tender, the corn was cold in places and warm in othersâprobably microwaved. The other workers appeared friendly and...
