They remodeled the inside nicely. Nothing was amazing about the food. The chips don't come with your typical tomato based salsa, the queso fundito was a good portion and tasty, and the rice and beans were basic. The quality of the meat/seasoning didn't seem great for the steak, and personally I don't recommend the pozole. I had never had this soup before but it sounded so good in the description. The broth was good but all of the meat was with bone, had cartilage in it, or was really fatty. After a few bites and examining the rest I couldn't have anymore as picking every bite with meat out of my mouth to pick out the junk put me off my meal. Thankfully the portions were good so I shared my partner's meal which was just ok (steak, rice, and beans). When asked how things were at check time I let them know I didn't care for the soup (looked visibly untouched) and they said they were sorry but did not offer to comp all or part, or offer something different. Which is fine and their decision, but it also means we will keep happily going to the other new Mexican place on Olive that we love instead of giving this one...
Read moreVisited twice, dishes we've had so far: The deep fried red snapper, burrito, chicken empanadas, mole (very good!), tacos, and guacamole. In general, the dishes are tasty. We really enjoyed the red snapper and mole, unique from the typical "mexican" fare in St. Louis (mushy stuff covered in slimy cheese). The mole sauce and tacos are flavorful, the rest of the dishes are well presented, generous portions, and fresh ingredients, maybe a bit on the bland side. The red and green salsas that come with the chips are fresh--the first time we had them, they had more spicy kick and stronger flavor, the second visit they were dialed down--each batch must come out a little different. They make their own margarita sour--it's delicious!! Has a hint of ginger, comes in 2 jar sizes, large and larger! The space is kinda like a diner/neighborhood bar & grille--it's spacious and clean. Highly recommended! I hope they expand their traditional dishes and offer more vegetarian options. Also, some extra hot choices for us...
Read moreUgh. Drove from Eureka for dinner, i've had good experiences with other Tradicionals. Walked in no AC on the hottest day of the year. I read recently from a restaurant owner that if the menus are sticky and dirty immediately walk out. I wish I would have their menus were disgusting. Entrees and drinks that were delivered twice we're not ours but other tables. The food was bland uncolored, nothing fresh. No lettuce, tomatoes the guac or sour cream. I'm not sure how you messed up guac.. it was bland warm, and i'm really worried we're gonna get sick tonight, didn't eat much of my entree. My husband ordered quesadillas.I'm not sure how you mess that up. I seriously would have had a better dinner at taco bell so disappointing dragged my husband out there because of past experiences at other locations. 70.00 dollars. One marg. One club soda, quesadillas and one of their new steak and cheese, enchiladas. Will...
