Okay, so don't laugh, but the reason we "found" this amazing place is because my guy saw a post on Tic Tok about it and forwarded it to me and once I saw the video review, I just knew we had to check out Johnnie's Pastrami! Parking is tight, so have patience. When you walk up, and there's a line..that's the Take Out line. They have a few booths inside but they have picnic benches with table clothes outside on both sides of the building. We chose to sit outside, the weather was perfect! Our waitress brought out a little bowl of dill pickle slices to munch on while we checked out the menu. We had decided ahead of time to spilt every dish we ordered as not to get overly stuffed. We ordered a hot pastrami on the roll, chili cheese fries and onion rings. Now, when the waitress greeted us, she had earned us there would be a wait of about 30 mins...so we were ready to wait, especially seeing other tables orders come out....looked and smelled so good! Our food arrived and one bite of the sandwich, I was in Heaven! The bread was super fresh, the pastrami melted in my mouth, not greasy at all, no fat pieces...just straight pastrami! The chili cheese fries were next, the fries were study, they didn't get soggy under that delicious chili. The onion rings, were super crispy and not matter what, as you bite into one, the batter stays on the onion! I hate when you bite into am onion ring and all the batter comes off! So imagine how happy I was as these onion rings held up! To close out our meal, the waitress offered us a slice of pie....we chose the boysenberry pie. Ohhh, the shell was flaky and the berry mixture was perfect!!!! And as the sun was setting, they light the fire pit. I definitely recommend taking a drive to Culver City and enjoying Johnnie's Pastrami! You won't be...

Read moreA friend that moved from NY claimed that this is an amazing Pastrami. He was so wrong. This stuff is far far away from Pastrami and it can’t even beat the worst Pastrami Deli in NYC. Here is a neutral and objective review. I have made a trip to New York called the “Pastrami trip” and I know for fact that I have learned everything about Pastrami (read my other reviews).
The Pastrami is dry and has nothing to do with the real Pastrami. The spices and the herbs are not authentic. The texture is paperish and really bad. The rye was wet and dry. Mustard was regular supermarket stuff.
The pickles are out of a jar not house pickled. Loveless and there is nothing to be happy about. Anyone can buy this at Walmart or Publix.
the Hot Dog was tasty but the onions were really bad. Diced and loveless. The relish was out of the jar again. The roll out of the supermarket.
payment in cash only. In the United States of America it is a shame in a Place like this to take only Cash. Looks like money washing to me a little bit. I paid $12.85 for a ATM transaction because I am not used to cash payments in the USA. US bank card holders pay 2-4$ for the ATM fee.
I wanted to give 1 star but this is why there is 2 stars. I do very fair reviews and write down points for atmosphere, location, food quality, service, and cleanliness.
We have had a very friendly service. Nice staff. The place is vintage and a nice location, not the cleanest. That added one more star.
But when it comes to real authentic Pastrami, go somewhere else. This is sliced brisket, that is what...
