SERVERS WILL CHASE YOU OUT DEMANDING TIP
This was absolutely the worst service I have ever received in any establishment, never have I been chased out for not tipping for terrible service. Highly recommend that you eat at your own expense.
Came in and it was self seating which was fine, we got out menues and ordered 5 Lamb skewers and a side of buns.
The wait took a total of around 30 minutes or so, really? I honestly wouldn’t think that 5 skewers would have taken that long. When the skewers finally arrived there was only 4 so my partner and I just went with it as we’ve waited long enough for our food.
Finished our meal, the meat was good enough as the other reviews say, shame that no one else came to tend to us during those 30 minutes as the staff was busy just chatting amongst themselves behind the counter.
We got our check and luckily we were only charged for 4 skewers. We paid the bill and didn’t tip as the staff did nothing to warrant one. Wait was long and they did not have any interaction with us other than to take our order and drop the food off to us.
Amazingly enough when a female staff picked up our payment, she looked at it and said “Did you know that you didn’t tip, tip wasn’t included”.
My partner and I look to each other in amazement as the small space was filled with other patrons as she just said that. We said sorry we have no other change and left. I absolutely could not believe what happened next.
After we walked out the door, a male staff member chased us out and with the cash tray and said “Hey, you didn’t tip!” We we’re in such shock, does this establishment have no shame?
I’m sorry but I believe if we were to receive good SERVICE which was not shown what so ever during our meal, then we would have happily tipped.
And even if we did not, staff should know better as to not chase their patrons out of the door and demand one. If I could tip the chef I would, but the staff who only uses their free time to talk amongst each other does not deserve it.
Too long didn’t read: Apparently you NEED to tip regardless of nonexistent service or else the staff will chase you out...

Chef Yang is a place we frequent quite often and we always go in expecting long wait times both for a table & the food. Today my family and I went in on a Monday night so it was not packed and we were seated immediately upon arrival. As usual, the wait for the food was a bit lengthy but again, as expected. We also had to wait a bit for water to be served but no biggie there. The food today was a bit on the blander side and not as grilled (well done) as usual but still enjoyable nonetheless.
Here comes the weird part. There was only one server running around every table and I couldn't catch her attention for the check so I went up to the counter to pay. Now, I'm usually somewhat of a generous tipper (automatic 15% or more if everything goes smoothly), but today I felt that 15% was a bit much considering we barely interacted with the server and ordering was through our phone. No one came by to ask us if everything was okay and water was delayed which is totally fine but I mean doesn't all that eventually factor in to how much I would want to tip? Anyway, she prints out my receipt and I write down $5 which, thinking about it now was a bit on the lower end for a bill of $70, but she proceeded to ask me if anything was wrong with the service and why I didn't tip 15%. I was taken aback by the question and I responded with "no nothing was wrong". She sees that I didn't change the tip amount so she asks the same question again, this time adding that she thinks that they deserve at least 15% and questions why I'm only tipping $5. I told her that's just how much I feel like tipping. I signed and left the restaurant immediately. I was really tempted to not tip anything after she asked such an odd question but I didn't have it in me to do that.
I know tipping culture is getting out of hand but never did I think any person would have the audacity to question a customer's tip. Isn't tipping optional after all?? I'm still shocked that this happened and it's making me not want to return any time soon. Apologies for the long read but thought others...
Read moreBEWARE OF TIP CHASING SERVER!!! Worst worst and worst experience we ever had. Our first visit was good and food was decent so we came back today. The food was ok.we had pollack fish and other bbq items including fired chicken.
Fried chicken was not literally fried chicken they just marinade the chicken and fry in oil without any coating.
Servers response: The pollack fish was smelly ,i think it was not fresh(we didnt finish it , we ate some and throw some and half was left on plate). So we told that our server . As a customer I believe we have the right to let them know if we dont like something. Right after telling that the server told us "you finished the fish" i mean seriously this is what you have to say?and he didn't take our comment about the fish in a right way. We ordered beer and drinks which he forgot to give us and after asking twice he gave us drinks after the food came in. He didnt showed up after that and never ask us anything. So when we asked for bill we didn't give any tip because his service was not good and we were not satisfied also we felt offended the way he talked to us.
Tip chasing: After paying the bill We were heading towards our car and just about to close the door. Then we saw the server was running toward our car and knocked on our window. My husband opened the door and the server was asking for tip! "He was saying where is the tip? I served you give me tip "My husband told him your service was not good and its my choice to give you tip u cant ask like this. Then he just slammed the door on my husbands face and left. I was just shocked for some moment. Didn't understand what just happened. Never ever face any incident like that in my life. We felt kind of threatened . I wonder how come this kind of people get a job like server and how come the owner hire people like this.
Never ever going back to this restaurant and now i feel scared to express my experience...
