I cannot give it a 1 star because the hostess was a kind, genuine apologetic lady who went out of her way to sooth with kind words our unfortunate incident the evening of Saturday the 14th of September. She also greeted us with a warm smile and reserved the table for the rest of the family and friends although most had not arrived yet. You see I was one of the ladies whose wallet was stolen. However I do not hold this establishment responsible for that theft. Things like that happen everyday and it is sad that people have no regard for other people’s belongings and do not take under account that most of us work hard and after a week of work, a memorial for our recent departed family member, we all decided to enjoy ourselves and fellowship with church friends as well. Reason I did not give the establishment a 5 star is because of the response I read here from management was not correct. One of the officers questioned me if it was true I refused to pay.... first and foremost I never said I wouldn’t. Secondly, regardless of our own waitress was on the sour side that evening, we all have a doggy dog day, that someone stole from me is not her nor the owner’s fault. I not once thought they deserved no payment. That is just wrong. I obviously was in a dilemma because I did not have my cash nor credit card with me and would have to wait for Monday to go to the bank and get the money for service plus tip. However one of the managers approached me and actually said not to worry that the restaurant regretted this situation I went through and that they pardoned by bill. My sister said she would wake my brother in law if they would be able to cover the bill for me and I would pay them back, but manager said it is ok, not to worry about it. So not sure who it is that responded here, but please know that there are kind people working in your place of work who care for their customers. None the less if asked to I will pay what is due just like I would anywhere else. The rest of the group by the way, paid their bill.
But something else that was incorrect is that they insinuated that my friend who moved my purse closer to them once I retrieved it from my grandbaby stroller and realized wallet was gone. That she may have taken it. I left my purse with them and rushed to the car to make sure it did not fall out of the purse, however there is no doubt the incident happened at the place and my friend is not capable of such a low action against anyone. A defensive approach from management is not the way to deal with this. The best way is to do all in their power to find out what happened with empathy and concern not with accusations.
As far as the other lady who’s wallet was also stolen, thankfully when the person took her purse to the bathroom, they took wallet but did not realize her cards where lose inside the purse. Some nice person turned it in to management and then the lady was given the purse when she went to look for it.
I am not in management of this establishment but the protocol I would follow is first of all empathize and retrieve as much info from the offended party and without accusations truly consider crazy stuff like that happen. Of course investigate not for just our benefit but for any future thefts and protection of customers and themselves. Expert thief’s know how to steal from an innocent victim while talking to them. This is one screwed up world as is.
There is a God, and He has them under His account.
I pray that they repent before worse happens...
Read moreI like a good dive bar as much as the next person but for my first time there, I was not impressed with anything. We went with friends who had been there previously and suggested we all go on a recent Saturday afternoon. The atmosphere is certainly "dive bar" but it's so dark I needed to turn on my phone's flashlight in order to see the menu!
The menu is pretty large with a good variety of food at reasonable prices. The drink menu has no prices so beware...
My first turn off was the waiter. Never introduced himself, just walked over to us the second we sat down and said "do you want drinks?". He constantly seemed liked we were bothering him. He didn't like any questions about the food or the menu and actually rolled his eyes a few time at which point we asked for the manager who apologized but couldn't do much.
At first we ordered drinks, margaritas all around, and these were suggested by our waiter. I'm not even sure there was any liquor in these even though we each ordered a top shelf tequila. Four or five sips and they were gone. At $15 each, these were over priced. When he asked if we were ready for another round we declined. Another eye roll.
We ordered the wings, beef tacos, a burger, and a mahi sandwich. The wings were dry - super overcooked. The mahi was supposed to be blackened but it came with absolutely no seasoning at all - tasteless. The burger was pretty good. The ground beef in the tacos was so dry I scraped most of it out.
We tried to find the waiter again to have him correct a few things we ordered (like the mahi and the overcooked wings) but no one could find him and no one else could help us.
So we had a pretty bad experience overall. I do know our experience would probably have been totally different if we had a more professional or pleasant member of the wait staff and I'm willing to give this place another try...
Read moreThe food here is good. You get alot of white people who stare at you at this bar. You can tell white people feel uncomfortable around blacks but they don't give blacks a hard time. This place was packed with whites and way more blacks came in by the end of our visit maybe because it was happy hour lol because the food and drinks are good. I have worked in food service and I can say for sure our server wasn't thrilled that she had black customers but she warmed up to us towards the end due to a mistake they made. The staff in the back and cooks are black, so this definitely lets me know that white people who work there have their opinions of black people, they simply tolerate black people. You can tell that there is a difference. I am black and its a little uncomfortable to be in a bar like this, but it could be worse, so i wont complain, im just explaining the atmosphere. We tipped the server very nicely and she was thrilled about that. We like to break stereo types. We got the sandwich with the coleslaw. I don't eat cole slaw but I tore this sandwich up! It was so very good. The wings were friggin delicious and had a different kind of sauce, believe it or not the banana dessert is GOOD. I was reluctant to try it, but it was so good. The category 5 drink WILL get you buzzed, i don't care who you are. CAT 5 drink is strong on liquor, not on taste just so you know. I had a category 5 drink and it got me right. I followed that up with a category 2 drink and it was a good day! All in all the feel of the bar is people who are reserved with different races until you show them otherwise and become a regular there. It is what it is. The guy I went with is a regular, he is black but they haven't fully accepted him yet lol. That takes time. The food is good. You...
