Warning Spam Generator. Give them your contact and you get it from them. Primitive management works very hard to keep the place clean and to keep customers happy. However, lacking perspective and enlightenment they cheapen the customer experience probably because they think the customer doesn’t know. I know, and I am helping them with this review Spamming customers with incessant promotions is not ok. You might get the same result if you gave a computer to a monkey. This place has the capacity to be a gourmet experience if management can overcome its instincts to be cheap. This place is good, and, considering its location in the demographically challenged backwater of Cutler Bay, almost an amazing discovery. You just do not expect good dining in Cutler Bay. The sushi rolls tasted and smelled fresh. The romaine lettuce looked fresh. The restaurant was very clean. Prices are not cheap but all dining is pricey today. I plan to return. The dishes were attractively laid out. I am still in a state of disbelief havng found a good eatery in Cutler Bay. LOL Beware a cheap trick they do. Almost all the sushi rolls contain fake crab which is a japanese form of salty garbage. If you ask them to leave off the fake crab and give you fish, you get a big south of the border smile, and a bill for $5. Of course they dont want you to know about the upcharge until the bill comes, if you notice it. Another suggestion. The cooked food is very salty with cheap filling and probably from a mix. Of course this is not Shibui, run by real Japanese. Its what you get in Miami.
Planning to try very soon, cause its close. Expectations are tempered for two reasons. 1. The other reviews on this site look fixed to me. This is not a Japanese operation. 2. Other Cuban type Sushi operations in Miami are bad. For example, the Sushi restaurant in the Falls, and Dragonfly in Doral are all about over salted food with fancy decor to sell lots of alchohol without you noticing how bad the food is. Interesting. This operation comes from little Gainesville. Gainesville had a great Sushi place , THe original Dragonfly before the Cubantypes took over.. Maybe these people are the oringinal Dragonfly. Hopeing but not holding my breath. I dont speak spanish but wonder if Nestor is the Spanish Word for what comes out of the back of a Cow after she eats....
Read moreThis was our second time trying to order from this newer sushi location on Old Cutler. We were really hoping it would be better this time after our last time left us with lackluster rolls ($15 spicy tuna roll that could have been purchased down the mall at Publix and may have even tasted better) and crab rangoons that had been thrown in a tiny bag and smooshed. Instead of writing a review the first time, I wrote an email to them hoping the feedback would help instead of hinder their new business. They offered to make us new rolls for us to come pickup, as opposed to refunding our money and we just said we would use the credit the next time we ordered. Fast forward to today ordering on their website. Lots of boxes to check under each roll, even one as simple as a spicy tuna roll. Our roll came soaked in a red sauce and pink sauce with only cucumber in it for $12. No sauces on the side, which were ordered and paid extra for ($1 per sauce). We called to ask what happened with the roll, and instead of apologizing etc they said it’s what we ordered. My husband asks who would order a roll soaked in sauce with no tuna for $12. They said there are other rolls with tuna we should have ordered instead. Ok, so this is where we throw in the towel and move on to another sushi restaurant or hope someone opens a new sushi restaurant nearby that will provide actual quality sushi as well as the customer service we’re used to...

Our recent visit to Volcanic Sushi + Sake was an absolute delight, and we can’t recommend this place enough! From the moment we sat down, the atmosphere was vibrant yet cozy, and the service was impeccable. A huge shoutout to our waiter, Jewels, who made the experience even more memorable with their warm hospitality, attentiveness, and great recommendations. Thank you, Jewels, for taking such great care of us!
We started with the Melissa Bites, a creative appetizer of fried sushi rice topped with tuna tartare. These little gems were a flavor explosion—crispy on the outside, with the creamy, fresh tuna tartare melting in our mouths. The balance of textures and the bright, zesty flavors made it a perfect way to kick off the meal.
For our main rolls, we went with the Barbara Roll and the Mark 2 Roll, both of which were outstanding. The Barbara Roll was a creamy masterpiece, with every bite bursting with fresh ingredients and a luscious texture that left us wanting more. The Mark 2 Roll was equally impressive, showcasing a perfect harmony of flavors—silky, rich, and incredibly fresh. The quality of the fish and the care put into each roll were evident in every bite.
Overall, Volcanic Sushi + Sake delivered an unforgettable dining experience with top-notch food and stellar service. We’re already looking forward to our next visit! Thanks again, Jewels, for making it such a...
