The whole experience is horrible, won’t come to this place ever again.
We got this part of scrubber in our food not once but twice in two different pasta during our lunch. And the attitude of the waitress is really bad. When the problem first happened, she said nothing and took away our first pasta. We asked why she said the kitchen gonna make a new one. Then when the second pasta for another person was served, we found the same thing. This time we were trying to ask why it happened. But the waitress refuse to identify what it is with the kitchen. At the end we have to stop asking what it is because the only thing we heard is she can’t ask the kitchen because she was trying to tell us she doesn’t know what it is. So she doesn’t have time to ask. This is ridiculous. Remember the first pasta the kitchen was remaking? Turn out they never remade it. When we finally accepted the fact that we will never get an answer, we decide to check out and cancel the second pasta. So we have to ask for the first one that they were supposed to remade, they said they didn’t make it because they thought after we found the scrubber in the second pasta we had, we wouldn’t want it anymore. But the truth is no one asked anything regarding the remake pasta. And the time is 40min after the waitress said they gonna make a new pasta. So we don’t know what they were doing during that 40min.
The whole experience is horrible, again. It’s not only the waitress, the owner as well. Never explained why it was in our meal and never said sorry it’s their fault. They even try to say they don’t know where it came from, maybe not from the restaurant. A metal scrubber in an untouched pasta, where it can come from other than the kitchen.
Just don’t go to this place. Not...
Read moreChose to have the omakase dinner which is served family style ($46 per person). The package includes three appetizers (we chose scallops carpaccio (thinly sliced radish on top of scallops topped with shiso leaf and drizzled with mustard vinaigrette) steak Tataki over sliced red onions - served with grated radish, chives and a soy dressing calamari with very flavorful herbed salt and parmigiana reggiano Also included a choice of one salad - we got the sauteed mushroom salad, with romaine heart greens. Two pasta dishes our choices which were the uni pasta and mentaiko pasta. Both were super richly creamy! We probably should have gotten one pasta that was not cream based. The main entree is Chef's choice : we got the porterhouse steak (upgraded to 12 ounce) medium rare , came with a side of creamy baked potatoes and a very flavorful cold pasta ( maybe Marsala sauce?). One risotto included , tonight it was seared scallop with mushroom risotto. The dinner was capped by one each dessert - croissant bread pudding topped by chocolate and surrounded by a delicious caramel sauce walnut crème brûlée- very tasty without being overly sweet Panna cotta with fresh berries and berry sauce drizzle There is no kids' menu but we got a chicken curry dish for our little one - we asked for extra mild , which she seemed to enjoy. All the food was excellent, although a tad rich with the cream based sauces! Attentive service from the staff. Food was delivered at good time intervals. Since we were sharing, we also had plate changes at least three times. I got a glass of plum wine - almost a dessert wine it was very sweet and enjoyable. Subdued lighting and piped music. Plenty of parking. Check out the omakase lunch specials and also Valentine...
Read moreAfter having a fantastic experience at "Pasta E Pasta" my wife insisted to try Cafe Hiro after one of her coworker said "Cafe Hiro is way better" wow those are fighting words and must be investigated.
Google decided to take the scenic route... Not really she took the wrong on ramp lol.
CF (Cafe Hiro), was hidden in typical for LA strip mall surrounded by a smattering of Asian food establishments. As we walked in to CF we got greeted by a young lady offering us a table after checking that we had a reservation.
Let's get to the food.
Calamari Friti Nice looking rings with a sprinkling of Parmesan and parsley and a few slices of lemon. The calamari was tough, very tough and could have used an garlic or Sriracha aioli to lubricate the tough calamari. Big bummer.
Spaghetti Carbonara Not bad, but here is another restaurant that thinks salt is bad for you!!?? Come on, salt makes food better and particularly spaghetti needs to boil in a high salinity solution, or it tastes bland. I do like my Carbonara saucy and that I got. The ham/bacon was liberally added to the spaghetti to add some pizzaz to the dish. So if the cook reads this review add salt to the dish.
Spaghetti with garlic, mushrooms. Reminded me of a typical Japanese soup. Lots of spaghetti, some veggies and broth. This was my wife's dish, so I only had a mouthful or two.... again salt was missing. But I honestly wasn't impressed.
Bummer to have to write a negative review as the service was delightful and it was easy to find a...
