Osaka Sushi is a hidden gem that deserves way more hype. It’s tucked away in an unassuming shopping plaza, the kind of spot you’d drive past without realizing you’re missing some of the best sushi in town.
I first discovered it through some friends—we ordered takeout on a whim, and the second I tasted that sushi, I knew this place was something special. Since then, I’ve been back multiple times and even catered from them twice for family parties. Every time, it’s been a hit. The sushi is always super fresh, beautifully presented, and most importantly—every piece gets eaten. Zero leftovers, just happy people.
Big shoutout to Anita, who’s helped me with every catering order. She’s incredibly accommodating, sweet, and always makes sure everything is ready right on time for pickup. Total pro.
And while takeout is great, dining in takes the experience to a whole new level. The chef is genuinely kind and passionate—you can feel it in the food. He even tossed in some extra pieces of nigiri on the house, which is just another reason I’ll keep coming back. The vibe inside is cozy, welcoming, and way nicer than you’d expect from a lowkey strip mall spot.
Also—don’t skip the fried rice. It’s buttery, packed with protein, and just ridiculously good. It’s the kind of side dish that could steal the spotlight if the sushi weren’t so incredible.
Oh, and if you’re comparing catering options—Osaka absolutely blows Seven Fridays out of the water. The quality, the service, the flavor, the value—it’s not even close.
This place is the real deal. Keep it on your radar… or don’t, and...
Read morethe majority of the poor reviews are for food safety hazards and poor customer service and this one is no different. 2 stars might be too gracious.
i order from this restaurant multiple times per month for multiple years until i recently got very sick from their unagi don. went to the doctor for food poisoning, spoke to i think mia (?) on the phone and the service i received was awful.
i explained the situation when my symptoms first arose and the following week i was still feeling sick. called back and requested a replacement for an item almost half the price (ramen) but she barely let me get a word in. cut me off multiple times to say they had done nothing wrong.
after arguing over the phone, i was promised the item i requested and sent someone else to pick it up for me because it "had" to be on that day and i had work. the person who picked it up on my behalf let me know mia was speaking ill of me, saying i must have done something wrong in consuming the item to be sick... for a week straight. as someone who works in food service, that was a huge surprise. how hard is it to say "sorry that happened, have a nice day" and move on? mia's attitude and bad mouthing me to my friend is what really made me write this review.
completely unprofessional and truly just upsetting that this is how things end between one of the best japanese restaurants in cypress and a...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting this restaurant, so we wanted to try a little bit of everything.
Appetizers:
Spicy garlic edamame had a nice flavor, edamame was not overcooked, and still had a little crunch to it. 5/5
Chicken Katsu was decent, the breading was nice, and so was the sauce. The only thing I didn't like was that the chicken wasn't tenderized and a bit tough. If they tenderized the chicken, it would have been perfect. 4/5
The salad with the Japanese style dressing had a nice ginger kick to it but also had a nice sweetness to the flavor. I would have asked for more, but we had ordered a lot of food, so I wanted to save room for the entrées. 5/5
Entrées:
The Chicken hibachi was ok. The chicken could have been cooked a little bit longer and lacked flavor. It could have used more seasoning, we had to ask for some extra teriyaki sauce on the side for dipping. The vegetables were cooked nicely and we're delicious. The rice and miso soup that came with the entrée was also on point, nice flavor, and the rice wasn't overloaded with soy sauce. 3/5
Spicy Miso Tonkotsu was the star of the show. Delicious, deep flavored broth with tender, well cooked pork with awesome flavor. Not much more you could ask for in a Tonkotsu ramen. 5/5
The hostess, waitress, and staff were all very friendly and helpful. We'll be back to try some of the other options...
