Had my hair and make up done for a bridal appointment. Had a disappointing experience that made the start of my wedding day incredibly stressful. Expressed concerns and they really didn't care even with me trying to be as cordial as possible. I never expected a refund but I 100% overpaid. Because my updo was no where close to what I wanted and the stylist wasn't concerned about that, I didn't get to wear my beautiful $125 non refundable veil. As a stylist myself I know how to do an updo on fine hair. Laura did no prepping on my hair - curling all over is a must for fine hair to give it the volume and texture it needs. I had to take the "updo" down and rush to do it myself with very little time AND I had to add more make up to my face as it looked very minimal. Nothing I had done looked like any of the pictures they insisted on me uploading to the portal that they clearly never looked at ahead of time. Communication is awful from the beginning to the end, where I very politely addressed concerns. Shawn will not answer phone calls and I had to go through others at the salon to get him to even send me a text message. My deposit was not deducted from my total amount and I was so rushed out of there that I didn't have time to notice. It took several tries to get this corrected - claims their bank sent the refund but I had to go through my own bank to get that straightened out. Do not recommend. To add, I've read several negative reviews which describe the experience I had nearly to the T. Even my wedding coordinator said, if he had known I was going to Jolie Day Spa he would have advised against it. Seems as though this is NOT the place to go if you're looking for a bridal...
Read moreMy mom and I went to Jolie Day Spa for a hair and makeup trial for my wedding. When we walked in, we were not greeted even though, as we learned a bit later, the co-owner, Laura, was setting her stuff up and saw us come in. My mom got her makeup done first while I got my hair done. She asked for it to not be heavy, but did not feel heard - 45 minutes later, my mom had a ton of makeup on that looked oily/shiny. Laura explained that's better for photos, and I feel her opinion on that trumped client preference. She did make adjustments as my mom gave feedback, but still kept coming back to how it will look in photos. When it was my turn for makeup, she seemed so disengaged because I emphasized that I wanted barely any done. She did listen to my requests more than my mom's, but ultimately, I felt like she was bored because of how I wanted MY makeup done on MY wedding day. When the trials were over, she did not say thank you or really acknowledge us at all, but packed her stuff up and went to the back. I have since called to cancel services with them because I'd rather lose my deposit than have that kind of energy and attitude around on my wedding day.
I can appreciate that it's an art to do someone's makeup, and I think Laura is talented, but if you want light, natural makeup and/or a welcoming experience where your voice is heard, I would not recommend Jolie Day Spa. The saving grace that day was the hair stylist that they bring in from another salon. She was fabulous, listened to our requests, and welcomed our preferences because she wanted to make...
Read moreI used Jolie Day Spa for hair and makeup services my wedding last year and it was a stressful and disappointing experience. The person doing my makeup was already not the same person who did my trail makeup at the store a few weeks prior (pretty sure she said she was the owner). She also said that she was trying not to highlight my "ethnic features" at one point. 4 out of my 5 bridesmaids broke out from the makeup after they took it off at the end of the day. My girls all had to leave the room and fix their makeup individually after it was done as there were young girls (who appeared and acted high school age and did not seem to have any professional makeup experience) doing my bridesmaids makeup and not following the reference pictures I gave them. My hair and makeup were not what I had wanted but no bride wants to worry about that on her wedding day, so I tried my best to fix it myself and make the best of it, as we were hours into preparation at this point and getting closer to the ceremony time. I could not get a contract sent to me no matter how many times I asked, the prices were different the day of the wedding than what I was originally told and I had to negotiate with them. My makeup was airbrushed on but did not stay on and I can see places in my pictures taken just after the ceremony where the makeup is noticeably coming off. Overall disappointing with the consequences of being reminded of the experience whenever I look at my...
