Pros: Interior/Exterior, Friendly Staff, Selection/Choices, Sauces, Patriotic, Military/Law Enforcement/Fire Fighter Friendly. Cons: Quality at Times/Fatty Meats, Bland (Sauces Help)
I'll start by saying I'm not from Texas, the Carolinas, St. Louis, or even the south in general, so my knowledge of BBQ is limited. My review is merely based on my own view of the establishment and stomach's opinion of the BBQ.
Atmosphere: The building is new, opening only in the within the last year. The atmosphere open with music playing, decorated with military, law enforcement, and fire fighter related gear. It can be a bit louder when very busy, but a good BBQ place feel.
Service: Most of the staff seem to be very customer focused. I'm usually welcomed and greeted when entering or approaching the register or counter to place or pick up my order. Most are friendly with a smile, and helpful when addressing questions or concerns. Staff walks around sometimes to check on how you're doing or if you need anything.
Food: I may not know BBQ, but I know what I like. We've been to many of the BBQ places and Woodbridge, and some of them have BBQ we like but Mission BBQ is a welcomed addition. We have been to Mission BBQ more in the last few months than all of the BBQ places in Woodbridge for the the last few years. The Brisket, Pulled Pork/Chicken, Turkey are all delicious. We haven't tried the ribs, sausage, or fish options they have. The brisket can sometimes be a bit dry and bland, but the range of sauces help. I've had a few orders where the meat was a bit fattier than lean, but it's rare. I would recommend the Smokey Mountain and Memphis Belle for sauce choices.
Value: You're going to pay for good BBQ, but this place isn't over the top with the prices. A Brisket Sandwich, side, and drink will run you $12.50 which seems fair to me. If you can eat a lot of BBQ like I can, ordering off the meat market menu can get pricey vs amount given. I believe it's a half pound per order. If you order the sampler, I believe it's 1/4 pound per each choice.
Overall I would highly recommend Mission BBQ. I'm a fan of the BBQ and the patriotic business focus. This is a welcome addition to the Woodbridge BBQ scene, with good choices of options, friendly staff, at a reasonable price. Being a veteran and former volunteer fire fighter, I love supporting businesses that support military/law enforcement/fire fighters. Give Mission BBQ a try, and I...
Read moreIt was my first time eating there as it was recommended from a friend of a friend at least I tried their lemonade as it was good. now the day of it (4/6/2024), The atmosphere was nice as there were a lot of portraits and each pieces of history throughout the years and seeing an actual firefighters axe, very crazy to see, but very nice. Now after ordering the food arrives as it looks so good as we have ordered Traditional (Photo #2) and NC Style Pulled Pork (Photo #1) and a burger (I forgot the name and photo #3) it was delicious but they were cold like it was probably hot at the time then became room temperature and then cold. We were served cold food the only cold food that is supposed to be cold is the Cole Slaw and the fries were very salty, I didn't mind but my friend Jenny did as she's not much of a salty type of person, on food, as myself and another buddy of mine. She had to wait for 20 minutes to get new fries without salt. For the burger as it looks well done but there was some purple coloring around the edge of the burger not sure why that is as it looks well done why is there purple? Who knows. My NC Style Pulled Pork was good I enjoyed it until I found, I want to say, a "bone" in the pork I was served (photo #4) that was unexpected. So the food was cold, other than the Cole Slaw, the burger looked funny, there was a tiny piece of "bone" in my sandwich, and 1/3 fries were very salty. The...
Read moreIt was my first time visiting mission bbq tonight. It was busy amd during the dinner rush. People seem nice amd food was ok. I didnt get offered any sauces like chick file does and i learned after reading reviews that they have sauces. So i had the dry pulled chicken on a bun w nothing else. Not even any mayo so it wasnt so great. When they called my name i walked up but no one helped me. I tried to find my food on my own then i asked if i could get a bag. One of the girls facing towards food prep looked back at me and said they would be w me soon. After waiting another minute i noticed no one was going to help me. So i saw a empty bag sitting there and just packed my own food and left. Not too happy and probably wont go back soon. For me service is just as important as food. Having employees that multitask like other fast food places do so well is crucial in that business and goes a long way in creating a great impression. There was no one there to give people their food and no one else from their other stations was taking the effort to help as people were standing and starring at them. There was atleast 3 employees next to my food but no one...
